The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Thats kind of where I was at with my D800, the D750 really does feel much better, bit smaller, bit lighter, nice features like wifi / u1-u2 and flappy screen. When you use it with the 1.8G primes its very light and surprisingly compact for a DSLR.

D750 and 50 1.8g is approx 1kg
A7ii and 55 1.8 is approx 900g

D750 and 85 1.8g is approx 1.18kg
A7ii and 85 1.8 is approx 1.08kg

Take battery life into consideration and the tables turn slightly. I think each Sony battery is 80g. 4 Sony batteries to 1 Nikon in terms of shots per charge. 1 spare Sony and the total carrying weight is equal.
Wow that's interesting. You can defy physics I guess.

The glass is where the weight is on and whether it's mirrorless or not the glass wall be same weight

Not yet maybe summer time. But nah keeping this till new models out

It'll be interesting to see what comes along to tempt... I can't think of much more I could want, except obviously dual card slots, weather sealing and not having to change the battery after every shot.

Other than those things I'm struggling a bit, maybe an articulated screen and a really good silent or just quiet mode without the drawbacks of the current one.

I'm looking to buy an A7ii in about two weeks time, along with the 55 1.8

I notice the kit lens can be bought for another £140 which could give me a little more range until I can afford the Batis lenses. Wondered peoples opinions on this lens?

For the money and for a standard f3.5-5.6 kit lens I think it's rather good.

My next purchase is the 70-200 the 16-35 then one of the new Olympus bodies em1mk2 but I may just may buy a new FZ1000 if they announce it for that grab and run camera....

I have both lenses and they are very good. Although I've not had much chance to use the 70-200

I guess they will justify the upgrade by making it a touch screen.

Is the EM1 that much smaller to offer any benefit over just using your FF Sony kit? I realise the lenses are smaller but seems quite a similar setup to run alongside?

Any you land scape photographer use slot filters on the Sony??

Some questions.....

When I am using the Flexible Spot I can only adjust the spot once then take the image if I want to adjust the spot again I have to go back into it but selecting it again the FN menu to alter the slot position is this how it done or am i missing something... Just wondering not that I be using it that much to be honest but for info...

Raw are people using Compress or Uncompress?

Uncompressed.

Go to custom settings and change the center button to standard. Then with one touch of the center button you are free to use the directional pad/wheel to move the focus point around. Does that make sense?
