The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

:D Missing your Nikon? Im impressed youve managed to hold off.

Lol. You have no idea all the options that have been going round in my head. Ideally would have got a canon so I can use the canon glass I already have. But none of the canon bodies really appeal to me.

I couldn't afford the a7rii yet. So I bought the a7ii to see how I get on with it and I am liking it very much. If it proves to be the one. I get a a7rii and first in life time have 2 bodies. If can't afford it I just sell the a7ii.

Yes all Nikon gears have gone

Believe me, its something I do quite often. The D750 seems to have gelled with me though.

After using a Sony or Nikon sensor its difficult to use a Canon again, especially when you also factor in the cost and features of a D750 vs say the 5D3. What you save on the body alone pays for a good lens or two to go with the Nikon (plus you have the better camera anyway).

Do you think you need the A7rii or 2 bodies of such a similar nature?

To be honest no twist. If I keep 2 bodies the Mrs would use the a7ii.

But t be honest I think I could stay where I am it producing stunning images. I can't believe it.

Dont bother then. Just keep using what you have.

Was looking back at some images I did with little one when she was a baby taken on a Panasonic gx1 that was a good camera 5 years ago but poor high ISO lol

When are you going to post some?????? eh? eh???

Exactly. If I was spending 5diii cash id be tempted to get the d810 again. That camera never really leaves my mind. Although I remind myself of the weight of it and the whole reason I went mirrorless.
Actually had no complaints about the d7200 when I had it. But I'm a huge fan of a tilting screen. And of course full frame.
It may well be a toss up between d7100, d7200 and d750.

I was positively insulted a few pages back when I made feeble excuses for not shooting like being busy and the weather...

We both up north lol

Thats kind of where I was at with my D800, the D750 really does feel much better, bit smaller, bit lighter, nice features like wifi / u1-u2 and flappy screen. When you use it with the 1.8G primes its very light and surprisingly compact for a DSLR.

D750 and 50 1.8g is approx 1kg
A7ii and 55 1.8 is approx 900g

D750 and 85 1.8g is approx 1.18kg
A7ii and 85 1.8 is approx 1.08kg

Take battery life into consideration and the tables turn slightly. I think each Sony battery is 80g. 4 Sony batteries to 1 Nikon in terms of shots per charge. 1 spare Sony and the total carrying weight is equal.

The battery grip for these Sony do add a bit a bulk the grip look a bit big compare to dslr grips??

the 55 has a really good t stop, the sigma 1.4 is only a tiny bit better transmission wise

Must get the PDFs manual downloaded and have a read this weekend as not really configured anything yet such as c2 c1

Just wondering, any reason you dont use flickr?

Just got used to Photobucket and hate learning anything new. Anyway, my brain is full of song lyrics and bad jokes and I'm not too sure I could learn any new software thingie.

Yeah the battery grip is oversized compared to dslr's imo. I only bought one to use for time lapse (which I haven't done yet) and to balance out a big lens (which I'm selling.....)

Some time ago when I was bitching about the weight of the d610 and sigma 85 in my work bag, you pointed out the above to me. It's something I've not forgotten. But I was hell bent on going mirrorless and probably wouldn't have listened to anyone. I'll hold my hands up and say I should have listened.

Having said that I'm still glad I made the move. I do shoot a lot more now. I try to take my camera out a lot. The a7 especially for casual stuff.

What I should have done is kept SOME of the Nikon gear. Kept the d7200 (because i actually preferred it to the d610) and kept two lenses rather than switching completely.
I tried the d750 and 85mm 1.8 in Jessops and was surprised how light it felt. The d750 seems like it ticks a lot of boxes, just whether or not it's worth twice the price of the 7200 is a decision I need to make..
