I think I must have low standards as I've found 8mp enough for A3 prints :D and one of the worst cameras I've ever had (a very cheap Medion compact) made great A4 prints :D

I understand that the extra mp will give you benefits when printing essentially but the a7rII doesnt bring only more mp. The AF is better and faster, specially the eye Focus. Will i notice much difference?

I am really confused but in fact the a7II is quite cheaper.

Am in same boat as you but think I am going A7ii for now read somewhere it focus pretty fast and faster than canon 6d

Or if you dont need ibis get the original a7. The a7ii isn't much better unless you use canon lenses.
 
Between the A7 and A7ii apart from ibis is there any difference in AF speed
 
Only the a7rii can compete to what am currently using
 
Wonder if I can buy camera where I can return if unhappy even if I used it? But I be buying with intentions of hoping keep
 
The Sony A7II is supposed to have 30% better AF when compared to the original A7.
If anybody is interested in a Sony A7II, I might be selling mine having only bought it the other day off another forum member. o_O.

I want to have ibis, its handy and I dont mind giving the extra money for it.

I have a7ii and a7r ii the r has more pdaf points so covers more if the screen it's not faster to focus though they feel exactly the same to me both very quick

I'd be disappointed if the a7rii wasn't a lot faster.
 
The 42mp of the r is fantastic it does 4k vid and it's a tad cleaner at high iso it is a fab camera and I'm not knocking it but if af is a big consideration apart from the pdaf points it's hardly any quicker I would say 5% if anything

Thanks mate, tbh for me AF is huge and if I'm spending it better be top notch, think I'll stick to my mk1 and DSLR till the a7rii drops in price enough to replace the mk1.
 
Ok preach time
Anything like the a7 etc are a bitch to shoot in low light due to lack of IBIS. Lots of blurring in fact just like a Nikon dslr with none VR terrible. I did extensive testing at lowlight in fact the same shots I did above and more I had lots of blurring with a Nikon d800e, more tripod work with none IBIS, don't get me wrong technique is needed but more hassle in my book is bad

Now I then go try my Olympus em5Ii IBIS although grainy it took good shots but lacked IQ, so I knew the holy grail was the A7rii
If you look at the same photo side by side in a landscape you'll see the II is sharper, I appreciate we don't all print A1 but the II isn't just about printing house size pictures you can see the IQ in fact in the 2 months I did researching and comparing d810 5dsr I noticed a full fat photo from the Sony was to me much cleaner and sharp...

The A7ii is a good middle ground but I,ll be honest and say if you buy one you'll say what if, if I'd just have saved another month...and if I compare a static shot from my Olympus 16mg to my Sony the Oly is pretty good but do any zooming at all and you IQ goes. On the II it doesn't I can crop like mad it still amazes me, and in my book just shows how tight the detail is.

Just buy 1 stop dancing round ya handbags LOL, wife will understand when your eating beans out a pan lid for next month or 3.....

can't in bed surfing now, but it's good at 12800 too not grainy is uses black magic somewhere which I find very good

Ibis is of no use when I require 1/125 upwards. I dont shoot static objects. That's where AF and lens choices play a big part. Could be alright for the others though.

Am talking A7ii here think your using A7rii so bit hard to compare
 
If only I could figure out how to get high Ido images to show on iPad at mo
 
Owen does ibis switch off if we use in lens IS on canon, I read somewhere if it's on, the metabones switches ibis off....

All good points but... I used to think that IS was invaluable but these days I'm not so sure and obviously it depends what you're shooting but if what you're pointing your camera at is likely to move I think I'd rather just set the shutter speed to something suitable and up the ISO.

Having said all that if you have IS it's there to use and if you haven't it isn't :D but for me not having it isn't a deal breaker any more.

And on the whole A7II v A7rII debate... are people with the cameras in question willing to send those interested a raw or two to play with?
