The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Perhaps Sony can put the brakes on for a moment and consider that they now have several options for consumers in terms of the cameras, and really focus on glass that is a realistic alternative to what canon and Nikon already have. 1 example: the Sony macro lens. I'm sure it's lovely. But 4 times the price of the sigma and tamrons (which are excellent)?

When I had my Canon DSLR's I thought I'd never need lenses better than the Sigma 50 and 85mm f1.4's, 150mm f2.8 and 12-24mm. Even the lowly 20mm f1.8 was pretty good too :D

I can't blame Sony for going for high end quality and I'm glad they have as it gives credibility and quality to the system but as I've said multiple times almost from the off... I'd also like to see lenses which are merely very good rather than aiming to be amongst the very best. Actually I think probably the 55mm f1.8 and 35mm f2.8 qualify and although I haven't tried it maybe the 28mm f2 too. I'd like to see more though.

Your right, I think the likes of Sigma and other 3rd party vendors will make FE lenses, only a matter of time.
Sony need to slow down on the yearly body releases though and invest into firmware improvements........ How long do the top-end Canon and Nikon bodies last, surely more than 2-3 years... Canon 5DIII and Nikon D4 etc....
I would be seriously peed if Sony released the A7RIII this year! :)

If anything another crop body may be welcomed. But if another full frame body is released this year they are going to start looking a bit silly. Ah.. I can see it now.. Touch screen. 2 card slots. The worlds fastest autofocus*. 56mp.

That is a beauty. Did you use the in camera filter or anything?

Thank you. No I shot it in raw but did have an nd filter on the lens. I have one of those little table top mini manfrotto tripods and put it on that. That little thing is one of the best things I've bought. Fits in your coat pocket.

I predict that either a new Sony high end body is coming out (new design) by the end of Feb or Sony is slashing the price of the A7RII :)

Having the choice to spend big or to hold back a little is important. You can do either with Nikon and canon. Sony mirrorless is relatively new so we can let them off not having all the lenses yet. But now is the time for them to chill out with the cameras and work on that glass line up.

No that's straight out of camera ;)

Yes a little work done in Lightroom. The dynamic range is wonderful.

Yes I had a d810 and sold it. I won't lie. I do miss it. If I had the money I'd have one again. But he reality is with the size of the sonys I shoot A LOT more. And at the end of the day that's what it all about.

Yup. That's why I no longer have DSLR kit.

The in view histogram, peaking, magnified view and ease of use with manual lenses all help too :D but the compact nature of the package is the biggie.

Interesting pal. What your current lens set up as I have been in two mind for a while. As I'm like you thinking going smaller to,take it out more.

Twist and snerkler be along soon lol

I've not been visiting much forums but i have got myself a Sony A7 so thought id just have a look at this thread... Only to find rookies on about swapping camera gear  some things never change

i think Sony will announce the new 7000 and maybe a new A range model ie A77 etc.... i think they will cool off the A7R and S range for at least 12 months, well i hope so LOL.

Anyway today is wet sensor cleaning day, i had dust on it removed it, and got some grease on the sensor not much but i cant get it off by gentle manipulation, so ive ordered the kit from Wex and will report back later. i think Dust effects the sensor more than a smudge of grease as the phtotos actually look fine, but as this MF collects dust more than my Dyson i plan to clean it bigtime today then leave the flippin lens on.

I suppose this is one of the woes of Mirrorless, that being said i never had this issue with Olympus...A7RIII i want proper Olympus style cleaning not just a dildo vibrate that does nothing at all...

That the reason why lol as you know I been a pain

Since the day you got your D750 youve been considering smaller cameras, either the ergonomics dont work for you or its faulty, my advice, scratch the itch, get it over and done with, then youll know which camera suits you.

Just Buy it Rookies, its a different world...apart from dust on the sensor bah humbug

lol wishes I could have both. So the A7ii get dust easy?

not really but it does attract it more than a Mirror as the mirror kinda protects the sensor. if your used to Mirrorless its just part of the deal, just buy a rocket blower and every other week give it a quick squirt. I made the mistake and got something on it which I'm about to wipe off

Sensor cleaning is easy, not sure why people see it as this really difficult specialist task. I use lint free wipe and 50/50 distilled water/IPA.

Yes it likely upset the original A7 series owners but Sony need to go after the Professional's who are long-term hard core Nikon & Canon users, having a trio of high quality f2.8 lenses without OSS could mean they are lighter, smaller and better IQ than the rivals.... worth the risk in my opinion.
What does OSS mean?

Yes very sure.

Youre wrong. I was giving him something to relate to, he uses Canon, can you see that everyone except you got that and replied similarly. I highly doubt he wanted to know what the acronym meant.

The 35 f2.8 is a great lens, i get a lot of use out of mine. Fits in my jacket pocket with that lens, never take a bag using it.

Don't go saying its IS someone might go buying a lens with IS and it wont fit the camera without an adapter. Its OSS for a reason, Sony call it Optical Steady Shot and always have.

I have the 35mm f2.8 and I think it's very good. The only real complaint is that it isn't f1.8 :D

It's been on my camera since I bought it.

Now youre just being silly. I can see how it stumped everyone else who posted.

:ROFLMAO: Really? I never knew that.
