The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I'll have a MacBook as well.... I'm just waiting for them to announce it
Any idea when they will announce it?
I'm hoping for a 4Ghz i7 quad-core, 32GB RAM and 1TB Flash [emoji106][emoji41]

Each to their own I can't edit on such a small screen lol I'm getting on a bit now lol

Most rumours point to March for a launch which fits their usual cycle. I was hoping they'd be out last year and couldn't wait so ended up with thr current Macbook Pro back in September, great machine!

I was working over in Texas and was about to pull the trigger on the Pro with 370 ATI as I could get it for just over 1500 if I ordred from B&H video and have it mailed to Texas you dodge the local tax of 8%, but I wasn't too happy with the VGA card for the money I found it stepped down the processor to cater for heat which annoyed me as I like playing games when I'm stuck in my hotel room. I did buy a 5K retina Imac though fully loaded ( well apart from Memory which I fitted myself ) So I bought the Asus ZenBook pro which in EMEA is 1400 I got it for 900 in the states
4k Screen and specific for Photos

I,ll get a MacBook next time round

Looks like the new 24-70 f2.8 will be along soon Sony made a new G Master series of lenses.

I've had 2nd thoughts of selling my 70-200 2.8 canon just made the fatal mistake of taking some pics with it.... took some of one of my dogs will post up tonight with the metabones it's instant!!!!

Great Stuff.

I'll look forward to an avalanche of comments on forums along the line of "it's too big and heavy, it's bigger than a DSLR lens, it's too expensive because you can get a 5 year old Canon for 2p and Sony are soulless and crap computers and not cameras anyway."

I don't know if I'll buy any new hardware but I suppose I could end up with three zooms, a wide and standard and a long, and a couple more primes at some point, possibly. Mostly though I think I'd be mostly tempted by a 35mm f1.8 if only marginally bigger than the f2.8 and maybe an 85mm f1.8 and maybe a macro. Maybe.

id love a 70-200 and the sony 100-400 G lens, but that would mean for the sony id need the LEA4 :/ even more GAS

guys ive noticed a few dust blobs on sensor whats best way, I blew it with an air dister and it seems clean but I can still see them on photos. any of you link me some kits ?

I use Pec pads and Eclipse fluid. I wrap a Pec pad around a slice cut from an old credit card and tape it in place and apply a drop of fluid and then after waiting a second for any excess to evaporate I then clean. The theory behind using the Pec pads and fluid and a home made tool is that I'm not going to run out half way through a clean :D Cleaned all my cameras multiple times without issue :D

Slightly off topic...

Just had very good feedback on the prints I did a couple or so weeks ago... Sent a calendar and pictures to GF's family and friends overseas as I thought they'd like some actual printed pictures rather than the usual electronic kind and I was right, they're very happy :D They're very happy with the pictures and the calendar is "Too beautiful to use." :D

That made it all worth the effort :D

Ordered some fluid and pads as on wex, and also a rocket blower. I noticed dust on sensor black blobs ( only had it a week ) so I blew em off with air blower but got some residue on sensor, so I removed most very very gently but will wait for fluid to get last lot off. Going to try keep lens on.

If I don't do it right I,ll take it to jessops for them to do it.

Am not sure if it's a mirrorless thing but I constantly have dust spots on mine. Seems there are new ones showing themselves whenever I shoot low aperture.

is that a dust blob ?
JK hehe

No I hope there is none on this image. I meant generally- I've noticed it the first time I took some long exposures in London one evening. I'd only had the camera a week or so.
Now I often notice them when I shoot landscape. Never had it when I shot with Nikon..

Sony G Master... = not just normally expensive but out of this world expensive? :)
I may like having a trio of high quality f2.8 glass.... Sony should release the holy trinity like Nikon.
12-24mm, 24-70mm and 70-200mm f2.8 G Master lenses without OSS to keep the design smallest as possible. Also some TC's for the 70-200mm lens.

I am guessing the prices of each as follows... gulp!
12-24mm = £1499
24-70mm = £1699
70-200mm = £1999

yeah I reckon your spot on with the price most of them will be 2k plus at a guess

Yes it likely upset the original A7 series owners but Sony need to go after the Professional's who are long-term hard core Nikon & Canon users, having a trio of high quality f2.8 lenses without OSS could mean they are lighter, smaller and better IQ than the rivals.... worth the risk in my opinion.

Oh without doubt. A camera like the a7rii deserves some high end glass attached.

But it would also be nice if the likes of Tamron and sigma joined the party and developed some of their very capable glass at their competitive price too. I think the real money Is from enthusiasts who are currently not looking to move because they can pick up a 85mm 1.8 for less than £300 or a 35mm 1.4 for £400 on their system and then compare what the fe mount equivalent will cost.

Perhaps Sony can put the brakes on for a moment and consider that they now have several options for consumers in terms of the cameras, and really focus on glass that is a realistic alternative to what canon and Nikon already have. 1 example: the Sony macro lens. I'm sure it's lovely. But 4 times the price of the sigma and tamrons (which are excellent)?

Your right, I think the likes of Sigma and other 3rd party vendors will make FE lenses, only a matter of time.
Sony need to slow down on the yearly body releases though and invest into firmware improvements........ How long do the top-end Canon and Nikon bodies last, surely more than 2-3 years... Canon 5DIII and Nikon D4 etc....
I would be seriously peed if Sony released the A7RIII this year! :)
