The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

The thing is, we all ask and imagine what could Sony potentially do next, they seem to always push the boundary further again surpassing expectations.
I’m sure the A9 II will turn up the magic even more.....
I commend Sony for the innovations but surpass expectations? Nah, there’s always been one or more big flaws on all of their A7’s imo. I’m sure they’ll get it right soon though ;)

This A7iii got more attention than any other sony that been release

Steve Huff and the A7III...

Can you pre order in the UK yet? Anyone know if or when you can?

Not that I'll be getting one anytime soon as I'm quite happy with my A7. I think my next camera buy will be a Panasonic GX9. From what I've read of it I'm disappointed with the EVF but other than that it seems to fix a few of my niggles with my MFT cameras.

Shock! Horror!
Camera hangs twice!
Shock Horror!
Internet catches fire... People on forums explode etc...

Apparently there's a possible flare issue too.

The bloke at LL says that the lighting at the shoot was "very odd contrast lighting in the studio with color gels on some lights." so it may only be an issue in some specific and not too often encountered scenarios.

I'm sure there'll be more on this.

You can laugh but it's you who's going to be very uncomfortable if you have a little accident.

I did say yesterday places Waz taking me re orders yesterday mate. Harrison’s cameras one of them

So do higher mp cameras have inferior iq compared to lower?
There’s much more to IQ than MP, but both are 24mp anyway ;)

In what way is the Canon better in terms of IQ?

It's still early in the morning and my brain's not on yet, where's the compare bit? ;)

TBH though, if it's saying that I'd take it with a pinch of salt. The A7iii's not even out yet, and I can't believe that an APS-C sensor has better IQ than a FF one.

I thought you used a fuji before?

Aha found it, that wasn't easy ;) Dunno why it's saying that, but it doesn't look very scientific ;)

Hey, question from a guy who has never handled a Sony.
Is this A7iii exactly the same as the A7riii but with 24mp sensor or does the more expensive camera have extra features?

It's no doubt a nice camera and people will want one but to be honest the A7 does just about everything I need. I don't need fancy focus as often I'm using manual lenses and when I do use an AF lens they seem fast enough for me. A focus joystick would be nice but at the mo I'm pretty happy with what I have :D

Good luck to those who need any new feature or ability this new camera has and good luck to those who just fancy getting one :D and that's a good enough reason :D

I'll read the reviews and posts and look at the nice pictures and enjoy it all :D

I'm not immune to gas but mostly I'm happy enough getting a new old manual lens to play with :D

Not many more that I can see but we don't know how they compare in terms of high ISO, colour depth etc.

I also used to belong to the "it's just megapixels" camp but after shooting with A7RII with good glass you'll find it hard to give up that 42mp sensor.

It also give you lot of cropping room especially with good glass. For example if shoot with 100-400mm GM you could crop 2x and still get a 10mp file you can easily print A3 size.

Kevin Raber at Luminous Landscape says...

"I just downloaded a number of images shot last night. I gave the Eye AF a workout. Totally addicted and totally amazing. One you push the Eye AF button the square hits the eye and stays there even as the subject move and in the images, the eye is tack sharp. Another reason why this camera will appeal to wedding and portrait photographers. I'm shooting this afternoon with the 24-70 G-Master and tomorrow will be using the 100-400mm G-master for the things we are shooting. I think Sony will sell a lot of these cameras."

Steve Huff... "Sony A7III: Full Size Samples, and differences between the a7RIII and A9."

http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2018/...es-and-differences-between-the-a7riii-and-a9/

"Sony is marketing the A7III to everyone, as it can do just about anything you want it to. But let me be clear, they are not calling it a PRO camera, though I feel any PRO could use this, and I know a few who are buying one, or two. I would say the only reason one may want the RIII is for the extra resolution and the A9 the absolute best AF tracking one can get. I saw an AF tracking demo today that had the A9 beat all comers. The A7III beat the RIII and everyone else as well for tracking. So it is faster than the RIII and just under the A9. So if you do not need mega res, or mega speed the A7III would be it, and you could use the savings for glass."
