The 52 Weeks of Daysleeping - week 25 "Development" Reshoot

Thanks for the comments everyone - you are all right, it is a boring old paperclip... the simple solution to keeping all those pesky bits of paper together...

Taken with the aid of the Raynox 250 which I think I might be getting the hang of... sort of.

I'll try to pick a more inspiring subject for Linear!

Your Simple is a genius shot - a wonderful abstract in lovely B&Ws and of all things a paperclip - couldn't be simpler - I absolutely love it! Blow it up, whack it on a canvas and sell it! Its great!!! :)

A paperclip it may be, but boring it is not!! (why have I gone into yoda mode, )

I agree with everything Dark Star has said, I love abstracts and I love this shot!!

High praise indeed - much appreciated, you've just made my day :D

I love abstracts too and I think it's fab and ticks all my boxes :clap::clap: and i agree with John, blow it up and stick it on a canvas

Week 19 - Linear

We had a fabulous day at Colchester Zoo yesterday and I promised myself that I would get this weeks 52 photo there. Being honest I got a little distracted by my tiger keeper shadowing experience and missed lots of good opportunities :bang:

So this is what I ended up with... A linear snout :D

Week19-Linear.jpg

What I learned this week:

1. I REALLY need to start thinking about these shots sooner.
2. I need to learn more about Paint Shop Pro X2 as I'm never sure if my PP id improving things or not.

Awwwwwww, Colchester Zoo it fab isn't it!!

This is a nice capture of an animal with linear lines, and I now realise that I could have just taken a shot of my own wrinkles this week

I like the colours and your treatment. Well done!

Its a good catch, nice warm pic with bags of texture as has been said.

Well done.

Ha ha this one has raised a smile here :) Lovely image and such an original 'linear' - in fact two in one - the line of the trunk and the lines gracing Jumbo's skin!

Textures and colours are lovely!!!!

Excellent fun shot and well spotted I know I would never have seen that shot...:clap::clap:

Great PP work from my point of view...

I agree, I wouldn't have seen that either. Well done a great interpretation.

I enjoyed that shot;)

What a great shot. :clap::clap::clap:

I'd be thrilled to bits if it was mine. It's a great interpretation of the theme and has lots of lines - the trunk sticking out in a line, the lines on the trunk and on the elephant's head, and the lines of rocks in the background.

Very good  It's a good shot, capturing the trunk and lines well. It's been well PP'd too.

There's nothing wrong with this, and the composition, as mentioned, is very good. I like this take
Tis a cute elephant

Thanks for the feedback everyone - I'm glad it managed to raise a smile here and there :)

Another smile here! Very nice shot.

Week 20 - Emotion

I am having a stressful week. I have shed loads to do at work but had to go to an advanced excel training course in london yesterday, the tube had delays, the offices chiller was broken... it was like trying to learn in a sauna. Back to the normal grind today and I got an earful from my least favourite colleague about something that has nothing to do with her, went to lots of meetings about things that really aren't my responsibility, and then carried out a review where I had to extend one of my team members probationary period - which is always a fun conversation obviously.

In short I am feeling a touch stressed about work... but apparently stress isn't an emotion it is a "failure to respond appropriately to emotional or physical threats on an organism". So this week I am failing to respond appropriately to feeling:

Annoyed
Burdened
Frustrated
Tired
Pressured
Impatient
Harrassed
and... Used.

Week20-Emotion.jpg

This may or may not be my official 52 photo this week but I've been so busy I thought I'd better get something in early. Sorry about the slight rant but actually it was very cathartic... I'm feeling better already :D

Edit to say this is also my first effort at shooting in raw - I don't think the processing is very good but I tried. I probably should have saved it and tried when feeling a little less STRESSED!!

Ahhh I feel your pain :)

Great interpretation I must say DS :)

Skin colour looks very natural and the burst of green and red is effective against the dark bg!

And another one of my ideas that I haven't yet done anything with :) :bang:

Hope next week is better :)

squeeze it baby lol

i think it's a great slant on the theme and very well lit too :)

well done

oh and don't get too stressed...

Thanks Kenny ;)

Hi Dark Star - Thankyou. I'm glad you said that about the skin tone as I don't really know what I'm doing with the raw processing and wasn't at all sure myself!

What a perfect illustration of stress - you've caught the tension in (your?) hand really well and I'm glad the mini rant helped with all the frustrations of work. :)

Brilliant take on 'Emotion' imho.

Jean

Thanks Jean - it's definately my hand but I'm feeling much more serene after a couple of great days off work. I murdered a million weeds in the garden on saturday which was very satisfying and we had a lovely day at Bristol Zoo yesterday. Life is good again :)

I agree with this, and would add that if you spell stressed backwards you get desserts!!!! always a good cure if you ask me!!:naughty:

:clap::clap:

Love it!!

If you'd like even more satisfaction, I could lend you my garden or allotment for more weed-murders.

Glad you've had such a good week-end, and I wondered if you're posting pics from the Zoo?

Jean

Great idea and an ace shot, dark background adds impact too.

Well and truly nail this weeks theme...

I like it good focus and lighting...great idea to have a dark b/g...

Excellent, works very well indeed, and the tension in the hand clearly shows the stress.

I know the feelings you describe only to well. A great interpretation of the theme, glad to hear you're feeling less stressed:thumbs:

Apologies for the lateness - been having a tough couple of weeks - should be back on track this weekend.

Week 21 - Complex

The picture is actually representing a TV show - you'd have to be a fan of the show to get the numbers thing and the reason why it's "complex".

Thankyou though - I had to secretly "borrow" some of next door's garden greenery to make the BG as it if hammering down with rain so I couldn't set it up outside... I think I got away with it :suspect: :D
