The 52 Weeks of Daysleeping - week 25 "Development" Reshoot

I think this needs a CENSORED label plastered across it. Great image and definitely the advantage of a Bridge Camera - by the time I had opened my bag, selected my camera, selected my lens, loaded the memory card they'd be smoking cigarettes on different flowers.

Week 16 - Longing

I can't believe we are 16 weeks into this project... well done everyone who is still going strong!

I was going to aim for something more emotionally charged this week - longing for a lost loved one etc. But then I decided that was too depressing and went for a different take... anyone ever done the Weightwatchers diet? I have but have seriously fallen off the wagon recently. Will start being good again soon so will be longing for naughty food on a regular basis and doing a lot of this:

Week16-Longing.jpg

Thanks for looking

Very good on both shots DS. As has been said, Duo is a very good shot as a Macro/Closeup, but it also fits the theme perfectly. Longing is also very good

Out of the three, number 3 is my favourite, I might have cropped in a bit closer, a mix of the hand and bounty in the 3rd and the weightwatchers logo in the 2nd in the background would have been worth a try, good idea though.

Yes that's a nice idea...I like the three shot look...

Only thing I would chage would be to a Mars Bar...:D

Excellent Longing theme...

(you girls and food)

DS - I've done WW :) But what I lost 4 years ago I've put back on :( and I'm now trying to shed it again! :)

An original composition - well framed and shot and one that I can easily identify with (I looove Bounties :))

And of course meets the theme really well :)

DS, so sorry I missed your previous 2 :( I really like the Letter one, especially the DoF, and because it reminds me of some Scrabble racks I've had .

Duo, what a fantastic macro shot and well caught  The yellow of the flower really makes it stand out.:clap:

Longing :lol:, reading my mind (foodwise at least). After 10 days in the Uk eating scones with loads of butter and jam, simnel cake, carrot cake, fat rascals, hot cross buns etc ..... I'm now paying the price. Good old WW

Excellent take on the theme and the more I look the more details I see. Well done.

From a personal point of view I'd have liked to see it in landscape rather than portrait, but that's just because I prefer it that way. And, yes, I can't believe we've done so much already either.

Longing for a Bounty, I like it, simple but effective.

Only thing I would chage would be to a Mars Bar...:D

I like the idea and execution, too. It was clever to present the three images and suggests the tussle with temptation that goes with any diet. Nice one - apart from the Bounty (can't stand coconut!) or a Mars Bar (not keen!). Just think how great those shots would have been with a large slice of fruit cake - dark, glistening fruit, golden crumbs ..... mmmmm - or one of Simon's doughnuts.

:clap::clap:

Another nice idea and image from you again this week. i too have done weightwatchers and have felt the pain. I like the tryptic thingy and wish I could figure it out, but haven't progressed passed the straighten, cloning and selective colouring yet!

These shots are clear in terms of what they are portraying and how they are portrayed, well done

Thanks for the comments everyone - being honest I wasn't entirley happy with any of the three on there own so decided to present them together in the hope it would work a bit better!

Agree with Hyster that a combo of 2 & 3 would be best. Maybe I'll give it another go for a reshoot this week. I want to get a shot for "Dark" first though and inspiration hasn't hit yet

Week 17 - Dark

I honestly think this is the most difficult theme we have had and I'm not at all happy with my effort but here goes... I couldn't think of anything inspiring to represent "dark" so I tried to go for the general feel instead.

Looking into the darkness:

Week17-Dark.jpg

I very nearly posted a different version of this. My sister (+ OH and my neice / nephew) were burgled by some filthy theiving scum on friday. They even took the kids piggy-banks. To say I am angry about this barely even hints at my mood. I tried to channel this dark mood into an image but I don't think it really worked. What the hell - here it is anyway:

They are both ace.

The first looks more fearful, not much in the way of fear in the second........

The second needs a catchlight and the hotspots tamed in your eyebrow but man are you ever this weeks Class Swot.

Your anger comes across in the image, dark, dark, dark.

Simply superb, love it.

I think this is one of the best images in this years 52.

Thankyou Hyster - you have just made me a very happy DS!!

The hotspots are because of makeup - which I needn't have bothered with so much as I decided to go down the B&W track :bang:

Now I have to pick which one out of the two I am going to make this weeks official photo. I want to put them all in a photo-book at the end of the year and it's strictly 52 pics only.

Oooh-err, those are indeed dark! Very good.

So sorry to hear about the ***hole that did that to your family. The anger certainly does show in the second picture.

I like them both, but the second image fits the theme best as it portrays some dark thoughts!

Mark:thumbs:

Thanks people - the second shot it is then.

It still doesn't do justice to how I feel about the people who have hurt my family but at least I managed to get across a pretty good representation of the emotion.

These both work well for me...but like you said you got to come down to one in the end so...yes I'm with hyster on this one I love the first one...:clap::clap:

Sorry about your bad news, hope it happens to them one day and the tables are turned...:(

Both great shots DS and the second is the one for me - dark image, dark eye, dark thoughts!

Splendid interpretation and well set up and shot

Also sorry to hear that bad news - the gits!!! :(

Oh no - split opinion, that means I actually have to choose for myself!

Although it is a re-shoot week... would it be cheating to say #1 is a reshoot of "Dark" as I wasn't completely happy with #2?

The first shot makes me think of someone looking through a keyhole, and the second is definitely scary eyes coming out of the dark *shudders*

Both are excellent shots that meet the theme perfectly. For me I would have liked the dark tones lifted very slightly, but the effect of both pictures is dark which is what was requried.

Technically very good shots....but, I hate close ups of eyes. Sorry , just my pet hate.

They are both very good shots, but for the theme I prefer the second (hope that helps your decision a little :D)...

Sorry to hear about the news, hope they catch them

My vote would be for #2 - purely because it portrays the theme better - the dark thoughts are very evident in this one. It's a terrific shot - one to be proud of!

I'm so sorry to hear about the burglary - I hope the theiving b******* are caught - although I don't suppose it's very likely - and your sister and family get over it quickly. How can even a theiving b****** take the kids' piggy banks. :shake: Have a hug from me

Jean

Hi DS, what a fantastic couple of shots, both great in their own right but my preference is for number 2. Cracking shot and one of the best so far in this challenge :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

As for the burglary, what an awful thing to happen and I agree with everything Jeangenie says. Kids piggy banks, that's low :annoyed: :shake:

Have a hug from me too

i personally really dont like close up eyes, but i can apreshate they are well done so  and a quick :exit: from me :)

Thanks for all the comments and sorry to those that don't like eyes! :D

Week 18 - Simple

Total lack of inspiration again so I set myself the challange of opening a draw, taking the simplest thing in it and trying to take an interesting photograph... I'll let you guess what I foundin the draw:

Week18-Simple.jpg

Things I learned this week:

1. It is very difficult to make this item look interesting!

Errrrrmmmmm

Errrmmm!!!!!!

Is a great shot though, for the life of me I have no clue what! Is it some sort of stationary?

You are warm... think of the simplest bit of stationary you can...

It's an interesting shot, I'm guessing paperclip!

I'm guessing paperclip too?

It's a great picture, I think you've succeeded in making an interesting picture out of something simple

Now that's got me thinking...

But whatever it is...I like it....

Nicely converted to B&W...:clap::clap::clap:

I like this, took me a moment to work it out but its a strong image.

The b&w and dof work well.

Another very good week for you DS.

Paperclip is what came to my mind too, but it looks a bit thick and a bit more 'rigid' than a paperclip? Although I guess Macro kinda does that to things?

I like it, a good in real close shot of something that looks pretty abstract. It's a paper clip I reckon..
