Rodgers for me doesnt have long left. No signings (?) this summer and just seems to have cone to the end of the road.

No signings has got absolutely nothing to do with Rogers ? However I do agree he is probably past his 'sell by' date. New motivation needed.
Wonder if Leicester could get Graham Potter ? There I go dreaming again.

I was surprised to see Parker gone as well, I thought he would have had a bit of credit in the bank with the club after promotion but obviously not. I guess Sean Dyche will be an obvious choice as a replacement.

I hope the rumours of Villa wanting Potter to replace SG have some substance...

Not sure Dyche would be the answer. Leave one club that doesn't invest in players to go in to a similar situation all over again.

Can't see why Potter would go to Villa after all the work he's done at Brighton. If he keeps on improving them a job with a bigger club could be possible.

Not sure TV companies or subscribers would pay much to screen or watch the also rans league.
It would be like the Europa Cup and Conference is to the Champions League.

I was going to say the same thing. A 'European Super League' could decimate many European domestic leagues financially. Like them or loathe them, the 'top' teams are the main draw for viewers around the world. You are not getting £billions for Nottingham Forest v Brighton, or Bournemouth v Southampton etc, no matter how good the games could be.

I'm not sure I would be interested in watching Liverpool if the plan to break away had been successful. I hope I'm not put to the test.

Possibly, but I get the feeling Potter would want club football for a few years before considering that. Seem hard to get back into club football for English managers of England.

Southgate wanted international football, and after a few years with Middlesbrough, got in with the U21's.

I obviously hope he is successful in the World Cup and there for many years to come, but even if he has an OK WC, deserves time to get to the next tournament. Can't see anyone standing out to replace him atm.

I don't have to dream, I've supported Leyton Orient my entire life.
Loads of downs and a few ups too, one of those was winning 2-0 at
Leicester in the cup. Our manager Jimmy Bloomfield had moved there
along with our star full back Dennis Rofe.

I watched a bit of the Leeds v Everton game, it was a bit bad tempered at times, mainly it has to be said started by Everton players. Rodrigo went off injured with shoulder/collarbone problem and didn't look too good. Fingers crossed for him, as he had started the season well.

Chelsea surprisingly lost to Southampton.

Forest bet the farm on promotion and only just scraped through. If they go down, the consequences of FFP could be catastrophic!

They brought in their 18th player in the current transfer window ..yesterday,I think, with wing-back Renan Lodi on a one season loan from Atletico Madrid.

They've spent £150 million. Only Chelseas has spent more. What about the Financail Fair Play rules ?

Talking of loyalty, quite sad to see Scott Parker get the sack. One of the hardest tasks is getting a team into the Premier League, and you would have hoped that once you have done that, you would get a bit of time in the Premier League. I understand that there was stuff going on behind the scenes, because of lack of player investment, but even so, it doesn't look good.

It was nice to see Klopp put an arm around him after the 9-0 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday. It's usually a quick shake of the hand..or if you're Tuchel a hard squeeze...

That collision with Jordon Pickford didn't look much and I wondered why it felled Rodrigo. It looked pretty innocuous to me. I wondered why he was given a tube of oxygen. I've since learnt that the collision dislocated his shoulder. Very painful.

Oh goody. Chelsea losing makes my day. They are continually raiding my club for our top players. Kante, Drinkwater, Chilwell and now Forfana. I thought ‘the Russian’ getting out would cut off the money supply but it appears the new Yank owner is even worse.

To become a pro footballer you need a certain amount of arrogance/confidence. I am sure that players like him will be thinking they can force their way into the team. And if not, well a nice pay packet so they never need to work again and they may drop down back to their current level (Leicester) in a couple of years if things dont work out (like Zaha).

Many reasons for bench warming - loss of form (down to player) or simply that the manager wants to play in a different way. Dont forget that to compete at the top you pretty much need 2 players for every position!

They're really missing Kanté and there's no timeline for his return. A hamstring injury picked up in the Spurs 2-2 game on August 14th caused by overstretching in a tackle.
He had to be helped off by the medical staff. I must Google that. I've never really known exactly what a hamstring injury is and neither why it's called a hamstring ? Nothing to do with ham,I assume

Unbelievable finish to the Liverpool game! Newcastle played a good game, and deserved something, but their time wasting caught up with them at the end. They may need to look into their fitness with so many players getting cramp. Harvey Elliott gets better the more he plays. Carvalho doesn't look out of place either when he comes on.

Isak looks quality, and took his goal really well. Unlucky not to get 2md by being slightly offside.

It's not just Newcastle. Leeds manager Jesse Marsch complained about Everton's time wasting tactics the other night, specifically taking over 1 min each time to take a goal kick !

I guess that could qualify ? although the " entertainment " portion is under severe stress when for 40% of the game there is no " ball in play"

I think you would have to view current top level football through the 'roseiest' of rose coloured spectacles to call it a sport under this definition.

I wondered where you were especially as your team is doing so well. I think you might be getting a reality check with Manchester City,though especially re. as you mentioned..Erling Haaland . October 19th,I see but at least at the Emirates. So far for Haaland..... 6 appearances... 9 goals (2 hat-tricks) No assists.

What's bothering me is the huge GD being built up by Man City and also Liverpool with that 9-0 win against Bournemouth. 14 GD for Man City,so far with Arsenal and Liverpool on 9 Spurs 6. Spurs aren't a high-scoring team and sometimes it's GD that decides a place in the top four.

I'll be watching Leicester v Man.United now. Just kicked off at the King Power Stadium. That should be a win for United considering the problems at Leicester.

Also why should he carry the can for the poor results when he knows his squad is under strength.
I watched the match last night and it was pretty grim viewing, very lacklustre display.
Found the cash to give 35 year old Vardy a 2 year contract, didn't see the point in that last night, saying that they were all pretty poor.
Man Utd were hardly impressive either, some nice interchanges, but no final pass or ball, just gave away possession time and again.

Rodgers solution ? he blames the players and persuades the club to spend money they can ill afford on 6'2" Boubakary Soumare and 6'6" Jannnik Vestergaard. Both have been a waste of money and rarely get a game. They want to unload them now, but nobody seems to want them.

Just realised you said you hadn't been well and I should have acknowledged that in my post above but was rushing as Leicester v Man-U game was into its 8th minute and overlooked that rushing Hopefully, you're ok now.

I have a lot of time for Eddie Howe who seems to be doing a magnificant job at Newcastle however I think he let himself down after the loss to Liverpool.

Newcastle were 'roundly' booed by 'pool' supporters due to their time wasting tactics. When questioned Eddie said (I cannot remember the exact words ) to
paraphrase it, 'Other teams supporters booing us is good, we come here to win by whatever means possible.' Really Eddie ? you may compete with that ethos
but you do not need to be saying it. Eddie, you are better than that.
