The 2013 Season F1 Thread

I'm not going to go for the full Sky Sports package which seems to be the only way to get SSF1 and will just wait for the highlights or repeats shows on BBC.

You don't need to have any of the Sports channels to get the F1 channel. All HD customers get it included free.

Might well go that route. Need to upgrade to + while I'm at it and maybe drop another cable down from the dish to the conservatory while they're playing!

Whats going to happen Sunday
Are red bull that good ??
Has Ferrari got a good car at the start for a change?
Will Lotus ruin their party?
Is it maclarens turn to turn out a donkey??
How many pit stops will be required on the plastic tyres ??
Or is there another sleeper team ?
I am all grape crushing excited

I'm not making any predictions, because I know I'll get it completely wrong.....I'm not even going to bother putting a bet on!!

The lovely man from Sky popped round on Thursday and did all his installing magic, so I'm just going to kick back and enjoy the race.

All that technology and all that money and loads of problems caused by... mice chewing through some cables! Who's going to fall foul of the lack of in cockpit warning lights? Who's going to take the opportunity to blame his cheating on the missing lights? Is the McLaren as much of a dog as it seems to be? Have the Red Bulls been sandbagging?

When the flag drops, the bullcrap stops!

not the best start is it...

Lol, no! Slightly disappointed that I got up to watch it as well! Luckily my 11month old decided to get up to so I didn't waste a potential lay in! :bonk:

Watching the BBC re-run now. Coulthard's a petal isn't he? Diving for the brolly when the new ladywoman didn't seem bothered at all by the rain.

After having many motorbike riders pouring bottles of water down her legs as she interviewed them on the grid, I doubt Suzy was that worried about a bit of rain.

Long day for the lads tommorrow

Suzy Perry was terrible ,BBC have really screwed up on the F1 front ..Where's EJ this year ?

well thank the lord for Coultard (and that says a lot) as Ben Edwards is a real irritant

Let's face it, SuzI P is better eye candy that wossisname ever was!

Could happily see Eddie J left at home.

To avoid a spoiler, I'll just congratulate the winner without naming him.

well all the replays have finished now on bbc and sky so i dont think its a spoiler Nod.

A popular win but otherwise not exactly an edge of the chair with excitement race was it.

I would agree, pretty boring race, the stupidity of 5 lap tyres seems to make the winner those who are best with their tyres and not the best driver/car combination.

I was happy to see Kimi win, but it would be nice for the front runners to be racing each other at some time and not just tyres/pit stop strategies.

So far, it looks like Lewis's move was a good one, the McLaren is a bit of a dog by today's performance.

I didn't realise that it was the first F1 , I thought it was a Pirrelli test day......

More importantly, was there a Tooned cartoon, can't find mention of it anywhere :(

The Macs had "Tooned" displayed on the back of their rear wings. So maybe.

Great win for the Ice Man

I was slated for my remarks on last years plastic tyres
Now look where we are, dosnt it spice up the race like bernie wants I think not
What with the highligts and pit stops who has a clue where anyone is with regards to leading, that dosnt follow F1 closely
Everyone is now not racing but conserving to race later
The dabate in qualifying is should I go crap and not get in the top ten so I can have an advantage with my tyres (except top teams)
To be fair the race had its moments and only a few would have backed Kimmy for a win
I always watch it taped so I can skip over the marvellous comentators perry, I had a team once Jorden and the brilliant racing driver coultard but I still cant get shut of that irritant edwards

I think you may be right about the plastic tyres, it looks like they have go too far this time.

The rumour now is lotus have a tyre advantage because pirelli use a 2010 renault to test their tyres
I bet that troubles Kimi not
Kimi in the top three this weekend possably 2nd Go Kimi

I expect we'll be back to one stop races before the end of the year as the teams work out how to balance their cars to work with the tyres.

I sincerly hope so Its so confusing
In the last race was sutil racing and the rest conserving or was he that fast
Everyone was saying alonso was the fastest out there but still came second
By mid race I had no clue who was racing who till the last 10 laps

It's just different strategy. The teams all work out what the fastest way to cover the complete race distance is, even if it means they won't spend much of the race at the front - they just hope to be there at the end.

It happens in pretty much any formula where there are tyre changes and/or refuelling. I won't even try to explain what can happen at the end of some races in NASCAR

But for the non technical viewer/fan it can be so confusing that the off knob becomes an option

Kimi for second might just be a bit harder now with the 3 place drop on the grid but there is always hope

Anyone dare to guess a winner/top 3 for tomorrow?!

I'm going to go for Vettel in 1st, with one of the Ferrari's and a Merc taking 2nd and 3rd.....hard to say which though.

I also think that the rain forced DiResta well out of position, and he'll climb a few places. That Force India looked quite comfortable until the rain ruined his tyre choice!!

Vettal was not fast in laptimes in the dry but he was in the wet I reckon downforce has been sacrificed for pace
Alonso 1st as they will rein in Massa Massa 3rd kimi 2nd Mixture of dry and wet conditions to level the field
Kimi is a hopeful could be vettal

Fascinating race! The problem I have with Vettel is his total lack of respect for Webber.

For those who haven't seen the race yet, it's entertaining! :D And anyway it's cold outside!

Pity the McLaren boys hadn't popped Lewis up on the jacks when he pulled into the wrong pit, Niko would have bought a couple of rounds of drinks methinks.

it certainly showed vettels true colours today, no respect for him anymore. in the old days you could go from lights to flag at 100% but with money saving targets it means engines and gearbox need to be looked after to last the amount of miles they need to go over, so teams have to make choices. vettel chose to ignore the team instruction today. Webber would have been leading the WDC if he had won.
I wonder how many times last year and the year before Webber did as he was told so vettel could get a win or better position?

Agree 100%.
