The 2013 Season F1 Thread

Giedo van der Garde just been announced for Caterham. I think this only leaves Force India with a spare seat for Bruno. Not looking good.

Da Silva never has looked good in F1!

Nod I am pretty sure that naming works the say in Brasil as here in Spain. This means it would be wrong to refer to him by the maternal surname. Just as you wouldn't call the Ferrari lead driver Fernando Díaz. I'm also pretty sure his maternal surname isn't da Silva.

Is it not something like Lalli?

Does this help?

No, we are talking about Bruno.

Yes, we're talking about His Hotness.

I'd be gobsmacked if he gets Force India so i'm currently without a driver. I've never been team loyal and I lost interest in Fernando a few years ago. As a Scot I suppose I should support Di Resta but he doesn't interest me. Quite like Jenson so he's a maybe and without a doubt it would be less frustrating supporting him than Bruno. I may end up bowing out of F1 this year, we'll see when the season starts.

That new Ferrari is nice looking. They've introduced a lot of black into the colour scheme though.

Are you sure that is not just temporary thing to make it a right **** to photograph during testing to try and stop people seeing the proper shape of the underside of the nose?

Wait while the first GP to see what they really look like
The mac is the most radically changed up to press, they must have done a lot to the chassis as the nose is high and pull rods up front like the ferrari
Still fancy Kimi in the lotus as long as the tyres do more than 10 laps

The launch cars rarely give much away beyond the general shape. Loads of aero tweaks will happen with some affecting the looks a fair bit.

Is it just me or have Ferrari gone back to Corsa Rosso rather than Marlboro Red? Looks a lot darker and less orange than it has done for a few years (and better for it IMO).

Ferrari's launch car is way behind the one in the wind tunnel according to Pat Fry and a whole heap of mods in the areo field are to be expected at Melbourne
In true Ferrari tradition I expect them to look copy and improve during the season, they cant make two bad cars can they??
Will Lotus give in and fit a modesty cover like the macs and ferrari and force india
Bruno Senna looks like his bum will not be in an F1 car this year its an outside chance he will have a ride with force

Is it just me, or does that Merc look very McLaren-esque?!

I would say so but a lot of the back ends are looking mac like, mainly because the mac was the daddy of the coander effect in 2012 Sauber are the ones up to press that could be on a winner with the slim sides, Apparently modeled on Perez's crash last year that flattened them

Hamilton smashed the Merc in testing due to a rear brake line fault. Queue the sulking.....:'(

Also, Massa reckons the new Ferrari is "on another planet" compared to last years car.....bet Alonso is already making room in his trophy cabinet!! :p

Looking like a good run up to Melbourne
Mercs electric, brake and hydraulic faults
Macs have the fueling fault from last year
Red bull hope they have found more down force at the rear to suit Vettal now that ddrs is banned but then Webber likes a squirmy car
Ferrari lets be honest anything must be better than race 1's car of last year Lets hope they havnt built dog 2 in comparison to the rest
Sauber and Lotus are the dark horses of this year
Roll on march lets see who can race the best on plastic tyres

Its been uttered for a while but Germany was always the question mark with Sutil having a criminal record there
I still think Bianchi would be better

Red Bull must be smiling now Macs have lost not only there fastest driver but there best engineer paddy lowe to a team that isnt considered a contender for them this year

Mac laren honda V6 turbo for 2014

Now that would be interesting

Yep rumour has it honda are already wielding spanners at woking 2014 could be interesting for maclaren Could be a case of youve pinched our driver and engineer sod your engines
The Merc this year, with both hamy and rosberg have put on a good showing in practise but its not racing
It looks as if it wont settle down till round three or so as no one seems to know how the plastic tyres will respond to hot climates

Mixed winners again until mid season I bet

Considering how the new rule changes for 2014 are going to benefit teams who build there own engines for the start as opposed to teams who have to buy from manufacturers, this could be a good thing for Mclaren. If they can get Honda onboard as the sole supplier of engines into F1, then they can work to build and engine that works alongside the ideal design....rather than working around a set engine and compromising the design.

Adrian Newey may disagree there

But as reno supply 4 teams (and wish to supply less) and Ferrari 3 teams merc 3 and cosworth 1 at present
Its liklely cosworth wont be there 2014 and maybe merc will only be supplying 2 teams if honda appear
On pure guessing red bull might go for merc and honda could supply 2 teams making it all that more equal and give honda a foothold for all that more data to race with
And hammy all that more of a headache A mac with honda and a red bull with a merc same as him

Whoopie cant wait
2 a month at least from March to December except August when there is one We have a month off end of July end of August, watch the updates after that
Bernie wants 22 a year that should cause a problem with transport and traditional dates

Do SKY have full rights for all races next season?

See the BBC link I posted above. Looking at that, I think the live rights are shared like last year. Since F1 is the only sport I'm that bothered about watching, I'm not going to go for the full Sky Sports package which seems to be the only way to get SSF1 and will just wait for the highlights or repeats shows on BBC. I've always checked out the results on Autosport or Pitpass before watching the repeats anyway and only make an effort to stay awake (the sound of the engines on TV sends me to sleep!) if the reports are interesting.

To be fair (although I would rather see the race live ) the highlights are quite long, not like they used to be and dont spoil it too much
The only problem for me is keeping away from people that have sky wanting to disscuss what I havnt seen
must invest in white noise ear phones and a false beard

At least Monarco is Highlights only I tend to find (with a very few exceptions) its just a parade of cars and a few boats they pass by

I'll be watching every single race in HD with Sky.....the SkyF1HD channel comes as part of the HD pack which we have anyway. The surround sound is good too.
