Hi Everyone.
Okay I bought a tamron AF 17-50mm F/2.8 xr just before Christmas. Its a great lens. Then tonight I noticed that there is a chip (1.5mm x .5mm) in the glass and a smaller one symmetrical positioned on ther other side, and the center part of the lens is full of tiny scratches. I only noticed it today after taking off the polarizer at Christmas. (before that the lens was perfect.)
The two chips are exactly 25mm apart and seem to correspond to the moving parts of the lens cap. I think the lens cap rubs against the lens. Could this be possible ?? Ive measured it and it comes within a fraction of a millimeter of the glass if not touching it constantly.
My two other lenses are 4 years old and are perfect. I'm so careful and this lens is only a couple of weeks old, and is pretty much ruined.
I'm so upset !! I'm going to take it back to the shop tomorrow and see what they say.
Has anyone had experience like this
thanks
chris
