over 800 is a bit pricy

Those are still near twice the price though and canon's new version sounds like its going to be £2000+.
Tamron seem to be on good form at the moment, it'll be interesting to see how this performs. Only grip I have with nearly all tamron lenses ive tried is that they don't ever seem to feel high quality. It's a trick that sigma and tokina seem to have got right. Q
I do think its a tad pricey when a second hand nikon wouldn't be much more
