This is a great week, I'm waiting for my first proper camera, (Canon 300d, from Steveinspain), the internet is free in this hotel, and now TP,s in the news. :woot:

How many of us will buy the Guardian for the first time in our lives. :lol:

Well done TP, admin, mods and members. :clap: This forum deserves all the recognition it gets. I'm mighty pleased I found it. :)

I read about photography in the guardian today, so I bought a 5D and 24-105 lens.

How do I turn on the self timer?
What zoom does my lens have? Is it better than my friends 12x zoom camera?

Glad I got a seat before the rush. ;)

Well done to all you guys, it took me a good while scouring the web before I decided that TP looked like a good place to develop my technique. Glad that the Guardian has realised it as well.
 
Expect harder critique than normal that week . I was getting a bit soft there for a while :lol:


This is probably as good a time (and thread) as any to add for the record that TPF has helped me get back on my photographic horse and I have valued all the help, criticism and bargains (I am Scottish) that this forum has provided.

On another note perhaps some of the guys that have wandered off might make a return. In no particular order I particularly miss Sie's landscapes, Chris's witticisms and Marcel's avatar when it wasn't him that was in it. :D

The deadline for people to send in their photos to be published in the Guardian and critiqued by famous photographers is Thursday.

I was wandering thru the www for info on The Guardian 'freebie' when I came across the address for this forum !

So, it's working already !

Glad to get on before the 'rush' ! :) - if it's worked on me ALREADY - me thinks there will be a good few newbies along with me too ! :D

Actually, looking through the guide, its a very informative read. 100 pages too. :D

Right just been out and got 'The Guardian' (aren't Saturday papers expensive?!! £1.50!!!) Think I'll sit down with a nice cup of tea and have a look at the guide!

I have picked up a copy this morning.

I have had a quick look through it, there are loads of tips & useful advice in it from cameras & gear, basic techniques, expert workshops, processing tips, etc.

As a point & shoot photographer who is looking to buy my first dslr next year, this is a great guide & I must put it somewhere safe for future reference.

Did you get the plastic folder with the guardian guide & guardian weekend in your paper? The photo guide was in with these. If not I would get back to the paper shop to get one if you can, I only bought the guardian for the guide myself.
