We seem to have a fair cross section of the population/society on TP, so thought we could have a poll & see how accurate the result is next Thurs/Fri.

Once you've decided who you are going to vote for (or not) cast your vote.

Once you've voted you will not be able to change your mind. (just like the real deal eh)

If we are all honest maybe we will get close to the actual result, but either way it may be interesting to see the result.

I dont think we do have a fair section, so therefore wont be voting here :)

Probably going to spoil the paper for the following reasons.

I live in a safe lib dem seat. The Tories are the only other party who field even a half way decent candidate. I honestly can't vote for some of their harsher policies.

The Lib Dem is business secretary and lives on the same road as I. Prior to the government he used to stop and chat often about how my business was going. Now he just scuttles and avoids eye contact. He's IMO a bit of an embarassment and while well repected in opposiio Labour will poll maybe 6% locally and so don't really bother trying.
I'm married to an immigrant and believe while our membership of the EU does need some reform that we're far better in then out. For these reasons I can't vote UKIP. Greens/others don't really register

Where's the "It's absolutely none of your business who I'm going to/have already vote(d) for" option?

That would be the "don't choose any option" option Ethel.

Married to an immigrant... what's the world coming to? (Joke by the way in case anyone takes offence)

seriously, there is no one party that fits my ideals... I lean towards the right, but to be honest, all the "leaders" are a bunch of a*ses. (IMO)

Local candidate is a god-botherer, so doesn't get my vote. Every party seems to have its good and bad points.

Life is a compromise, you cannot get everything that you want all the time.
I work out my priorities and wishes on all the topics that I am interested in and see which party is nearest to me. I then look to see if any differences are acceptable to me and are outweighed by the agreements.
I then vote for that party but I realise that any government may have to make compromises during their 5 years as things change, for that reason I think that all the "lock in" pledges made by this lot of party leaders are stupid short termism and probably will have to be broken .

exactly this, which is why choosing in this election is so difficult, every party has some agreeable points [assuming they act on them], they all have plenty of disagreeable ones, and your vote can be heavily influenced by certain things, such as your local candidate for your 'natural party vote' being bloody awful, or total loss of faith in the leadership of the party you would normally vote for, etc. Yes, t'was ever thus that party lines could be blurred, but seems to have got worse in the last 20 years. Still, I agree, as the poll here is set anonymous voting, will be interesting to see if it reflects what happens next week.

Does it matter? its a bit of (harmless) fun, no one knows who or what you voted for, in here.
Unlike the polling stations themselves, when you present your polling card and that's tied to the ballot paper.
Secret vote? I don't think so ;)

BTW the results are so far "interesting" ;)

:agree:

I expected it to be a bit tighter between the top 2. Lets see how it pans out in a few days with some more votes. You never know TP could be more accurate than the Mori/etc polls.

Who I want to vote for, and who I will vote for are two different things. Tactical voting for me this year.

What's the point of voting if you intend spoiling the ballot paper? o_O

If you spoil your ballot, you're not voting, however your presence and participation in the process will be recorded, and you'll be part of the turnout figures, rather than being counted as part of the (high) percentage of those who don't turn out at all.

If you like.

I guess it just shows to the `powers that be` that you aint happy, or are disenchanted with any of em

Or it means that someone hasn't got the intelligence tio fill the form in correctly. Frankly, I think that anyone who intentionally 'spoils' their ballot paper is as bad as someone who doesn't bother turning up at all.

its funny that people get so private about their vote, its not like people are asking to see your willy is it

Good for you.
I don't think it's any worse than voting for something/someone you don't really believe in, just so you can say you voted.

I would never spoil my ballot paper but i have some respect for those that do, neither could I vote tactically and I have no respect for those that do.

The ballot papers should have a "none of the above" box, so people can still make thier feelings known, but not be lumped in with the plebs that can't read or write properly.

According the this most scientific poll so far, we are all screwed... again :rolleyes::banghead:(n)

Remember folks, if you don't vote don't moan. You will have had your chance;)

Except it is meant to be private, a private ballot is the only way to ensure fairness and reduce the risk of gerrymandering, coercion and fraud

I disagree here.
If I have taken note of candidates, parties, manifesto promises and rhetoric, and still find that there is no one I can trust even a little bit to deliver. ..who should I vote for?

In my opinion, the biggest fools are those who stick their 'x' In any old box just so they can then pontificate about how they voted, so their Opinion matters more than that of someone who chose not to abandon their own principles.

I agree with Tom. There should be an official opportunity on ballot papers for people to express their dissatisfaction with all candidates.

Another agreement here, for the same reasons,
I've been saying for years, there should be a none of the above option.
Brewsters Millions" anyone? :D
I am aware of the options, and hereby declare them all to be buffoons
Or as someone posted in the meme thread recently, vote for Kermit as sure as hell,
we will end up with some Muppet or other, ( May as well go for the green one, unless of course Miss piggy runs too, and the we have a pink option :D )
