weekly Susiejb 52 in 2015 Christmas ...and that's me finished for 2015

... inclined to agree with the last couple of comments

Have to agree I can see the idea is there but a touch dark and a touch busy. But as you say its onwards and upwards.

I too agree with the previous comments.
The type of tree really interests me though..
I know they're not baoab, but they resemble them!

For me the leaves and branches detract too much from the verticals of the trunks, which are very vertical. Possibly trying it in colour and desaturate the greens might make the trunks stand out a bit more. Totally on theme :)

Hi Susie, some great images, I can definitely see your bold image hanging in a kitchen, lovely colours, relax is a great shot, especially as it was shot on an iPad, I like the idea for vertical and it's one I have been considering, I just find the bottom 3rd of the image a touch dark.
John

Hi Susie, well I have to say I quite like the very contrasty nature of the image, it is busy but I can still see the verticals (y)

Hi Susie. I just logged in to this weeks word am thinking there is going to be some rum images coming in this weeks uploads.
I really like the very contrasty look you have given this almost like an ink stamp they sure are vertical.Gaz

Thanks for looking and commenting Gary ....I have absolutely no idea what to do for this weeks theme.

On subject, but I dunno, this just doesn't work for me (sorry). Too many distractions perhaps?

That's fine Tim, best to be honest ....thanks for taking the time to look.

I can see what you were trying to do with this Susie, vertical is kinda spoilt by the horizontals for me.
Its a nice image though :)

Yes it is a tad 'busy' .... my neighbour has a great single palm tree in her garden I should have gone up there to do it.

Ta d00d ...it was a bit rushed ....I saw the perfect shot on Thursday and had no camera :( annoying !

Thank for looking Ruth ...I always just call them Palm Trees not sure if they have another name.

Hi Chris ....thanks for looking ....you may be right about colour but I had it set in my head to do B&W ....I should be more adaptable !

Thanks Allan I did want that deep contrasty look but I should have perhaps waited and found a better location, I hate to get behind though and it was Friday !

Hi Susie,

Vertical, I'm in agreement with what others have said about there being a bit much going on - sorry! I do like the shot though, it just doesn't fit the theme as well as some of your other photos, but I know you were a bit rushed :)

That's really nice of you Lorraine ...I suppose we all get weeks when we think 'that will have to do'. I have a 'thing' about getting behind with the topics.

Not an easy topic this week at all ....but here we go. I'm looking after a friends little dog at the moment so I persuaded her to pose for me :)

Can't really make out the mouth, however a minor detail and one thank quiet frankly I couldn't care about because its a fantastic shot, beautifully sharp, where its supposed to be. Big (y) from me

really great shot Susie - can see his little mouth there - he kept very still for you! Nice and sharp shot.

More nose than mouth ... but who cares

Susie, I think that's a brilliant portrait ... perfect POV & DOF.

Hi Susie,

Mouth - as others have said, its more nose than mouth, but excellent shot all the same :D

Hey Susie
What a beautiful shot for Mouth[emoji4]..... I want to see the rest of her now - bet she's a real cutie!

Mouth, nose, muzzle... you could have hit any of these. It;s got a nice abstract feel, nice use of shallow DOF, and I really like the way it's hard to tell if it's a deliberate mono or not.

DoF accurately focuses on the mouth leaving the nose OOF. So an accurate portrayal of the theme. (y)

:agree: on first view the first thing i was drawn too was the mouth.
You have there a super super picture and clone out a couple of the longer whiskers and i could see that framed and hanging on many a wall
My favorite mouth shot of the week by a mile.

Thanks Michalene ...I did have to get my hubby to hold her while I took the photo :)

Hey d00d thank you for hopping in glad you like it (y)

Nice shot Susie, dof is good, composition works. Cracking picture. And well done for getting the dog to pose!

Thank you Michael :) much appreciate your encouraging comments.

Thank you Ferg ...she is a very naughty Cairn Terrier called Flora ....but very lovely too.

Thanks Nick ....I didn't want a really harsh black and white so I used a daguerreotype effect to soften it, it's one i use a lot, it's not too sepia, just a nice soft effect.

Mouth - I think I have to agree on the fact that it is a bit more nose than mouth, but it is a sharp image and I like it.

Thank for looking in Mandy ....appreciate your visit :)

Thanks Martin ...it's a miracle the focus worked okay as she was not happy having to sit still, I took about thirty in quick succession and ended up using the first one !

:ty:Simon .... I really appreciate your encouragement, I often feel out of my depth on here so when I do get it right it really spurs me on :)

Thank you Ruth I was a bit concerned about the nose but if I cropped it any more it just didn't look right, she is a very adorable little dog....I always miss her when she goes home.

Hi Susie, I see there has been a bit of a nose bandwagon passing you by, looks good to me liking the closeness of the crop and the PP, nice work (y)

super shot Susie, whether it's nose or mouth I really like it. The crop works very well :-)

As been said Susie, its more nose than mouth IMO,
but its a nice detailed shot

( my dog has no nose... Naw sharn't bother :D )

:D thank you for hopping in :)

It's more nose than mouth but that said I really like this. The shallow DoF helps to make this stand out. Nice one.

Thanks Peter ...much appreciated (y)

Crown, nice idea and third person to do the idea...I'll be the forth

Looks slightly under exposed but nicely composed.

Cheers.

What a yellow explosion!

Lovely interpretation of the theme. A really nice touch adding the rogue garden Daff. It looks much better on Flickr against a dark background too.

2nd time of agreeing with Andy in the under-exposure department.

Hi Susie, best of the daffodil shots this week love the bit of orange in the top left, not sure about it looking underexposed looks ok to me

Hi Susie,

Good shot - fits the theme perfectly and I like the addition of the daffodil from the garden :)

I knew there were a few daffodil pictures this week and i knew this was my favorite of the bunch (pardon the pun) but i didn't realize it was yours.
You have done it again and taken another really good picture adding the daf from the garden creating the stand out part is genius.

Nice one Susie. Creative arrangement, soft but detailed. (y)
