Hi

Just want to know your stupid moments of the day. Mine are

1) Not realising that Netherlands and Holland are the same place

2) Not realising Ryvita were made from RYE - which means I can eat them! I always thought they were wheat!

3) Not realising Russia was part of Europe

can't you eat wheat?

I can't either its why I drink vodka

todays stupid moment was offering to take over the weird areas to allocate for Jenny :s

Bread/Pasta/Cakes etc... make me very bloated and if I eat too much give me the effects of food poisoning :gag:

Well, yesterday, I gave the Raynox which I got last week a spin. Showed the wife what I thought was a wasp, and today, browsing the macro forum, I discover it is, in fact, a hoverfly. So, all summer I have been screaming whenever a hoverfly buzzes past me in the garden - what I thought were a hellish number of wasps were not.

Until last year I didnt think Carrot Cake had carrots in them. Thought it was just a name

I thought Cheese cake is made from cheese

I just like the way that almost like a no.4 in your list is the smiley "I love Canon"

It is.
I had to show my boyfriend numerous recipes to convince him of that.
He also didn't believe lasagna was pasta. Good job I do the cooking. :)

Squizza, you might want to have a read on here as it might be the gluten in wheat that is affecting you and it's also found in Rye (and oats, barley, etc).

How you describe it sound very similar to how it affects my wife.

1) Not realising that Netherlands and Holland are the same place

Not true, Holland is a region of the Netherlands or Nederland giving it it's proper name! :D

That's what I thought but the other half was saying they're the same place!

Edit: I'm so confused :D

Edit: How did I ever do my degree? :D

Russia is 'a part of' Northern Eurasia (as in, the land mass of Europe and Asia), but as far as I know it doesn't 'belong' to either.

I have always understood the boundary between Europe and Asia to be the Ural Mountains. Which means Russia is in both Europe and Asia.

Holland is part of de Nederlanden. It's the very, very, very flat part. Which is different from the flat part.

Well if you partake in some of the legal/tolerated substances available in the Holland region of the Netherlands it can morph into many different shapes other than flat.

And Russia is often talked of as being European, well bits of it anyways.

Thanks everyone for the geography AND cooking lessons!

To get back onto the original subject, while out walking last week, (climbing Ingleborough) it started raining, I whipped my paramo out of my rucky, shoved it over my head (kagoole type) then realised my hat was gone (it was windy at the time! honest) I turned round to see where it had blown to but could not see it. My (4) mates asked what I was doing so I told them my hat had blown off and I could not find it.
That started a full blown search with 5 of us strung out over the flanks of Ingleborough looking for my hat! This went on for 30 mins or so until I said to pack it in as it was no fun wandering around up here in the rain.
Off we went down the hill (eventually) ending up in the coffee shop in Ingleton.
Now I NEVER go out without my Craghopper cap, NEVER, so I was pretty grumpy about loosing it, but heyho, I could always buy another so drove home after a good day out.

I parked the car on the drive, got my gear out of the boot, opened the front door, and on the hall table was my CRAGHOPPER CAP!!
I couldnt believe it! I never had it on, and to make it worse, none of my mates had realised and we had ALL searched the ruddy hillside for 30 mins looking for the cap that was sat at home!! Ever felt a complete berk??

I told them (mates) I had bought another!!

Think one of the daftest things I ever did was when I had an ear infection.
I was talking to some work mates while getting ready to put drops in my ear.
Turned my head to the side, inserted ear dropper thingy, stuck finger in other ear to stop the drops from getting out! My mates never even noticed!

Yesterday I put my dinner in the oven and switched the tv on. Masterchef was on and I got quite into it. A bit later on all the food I was seeing on tv made me realise I was quite hungry.

****!!!! Dinner, ran to the oven and had burnt my food...all because of a food programme :lol:

I had a proper bad start to the day...

I dropped pancake mix all over the inside of the fridge, fell in the shower, spilled hot brew all down my boyfriend and got mud all over the kitchen. :) Then I sat while my lovely boyfriend cleaned it all up, I do feel lucky today alone that I think I didn't have to risk more clumsy moments. Oh I also dropped a load of fishing rods (but then my uncle accidentally snapped his explaining how much fly rods bend oops it was only a day old.)

Ok after weeks of nagging at the wife to turn lights out when she leaves the house I had a very long night at work one day, got home made a brew opened the fridge to get the milk and spent a good minute cursing her for leaving the fridge light on :| I soon realised my mistake but only after texting her in anger :'( hehe wont live it down for a while methinks!

3) Not realising Russia was part of Europe

It is not a member of the European Union
It is a member of the Council of Europe

So it is or it isn't, depending on your definition of "Europe".

Right, Europe is so much more then just some political institutions that have existed for few decades. Dont you think so?;)

3) Not realising Russia was part of Europe
You was right, because Russia is the part of hell last days...
I think you know about lots of fires and hell smoke on our territory.
