Did you not fancy taking advantage of the M.2 slot for your OS SSD?
For what i do i wont really see the benefit of the extra speed plus some of them are nae bonnie to look at.
At least my SSDs are naturally hidden behind the motherboard.
But its not a mistake as i dont need that level of speed and after a bios check Windows 10 loads and is useable within 10-12 seconds. Now compare that to my current laptop where Windows was useable after approx 3 mins, then an extra 7 seconds in my world is negligible.Sorry but I think thats a mistake and you've sacrificed performance for looks.
As it's a disk based OS the speed performance of the M2 card is significant. I went with 512Gb Samsung Evo M2 SSD and 2 x 512 Gb Samsung Evo Sata SSD's for my build, backed with a 16Tb raid of WD red disks (5 x 4Tb).
The M2 card on a disk check gives 2400Mb/sec read, 1960mb/sec write, compared to the 550Mb read/write of the sata disks. 3 Sec startup (after bios check) for Windows 10 to be ready for work.
The M2 card is used for the OS, one SSD for Lightroom Cache and catalogue files, and the other for this years Raw files (import and work on this disk).
The M2 card would have been the same price and it's not about chundering through images but about where the operating system is placed, so the performance (for the same money) wouldn't have been wasted as it affects everything you do.
In this photography forum, where people process images and especially when people are complaining about the speed of Lightroom, then this makes a significant difference.
Happy for you if that's what you want, but if someone is looking to build similar then they should be aware of this difference, which was the point of my post.
I got a 128gb disc for OS (windows 10 plus apps) and a 64gb as a scratch disk for Adobe CC.Fair enough, you hadn't mentioned budget just SSD for the OS which started the discussion around M2 advantages over Sata SSD, which are around the same money, if comparing size (GB).
Laptop disks, 5200rpm is slow, no wonder you had slow runningmost are 7200 or SSD these days.
What size disks did you get for 2 for £50? 120Gb? What OS are you running?
Also if asthetics are important to you, have you seen the wall mounted? i.e.

That could have looked very good with your components
Yeah all finished and sweet as a nut.
