I had the same problem once, borrowed a lens grip and short of damaging the lens it still would not budge.
I eventually placed the tiniest of drops of WD40 carefully from a small needle between the filter and the lens which quickly soaked into the thread, I wiped off the excess let it stand for a few minutes and it then came off no bother.
I must stress it was the tiniest of drops, it worked for me, but not recommended for clumsy hands and I won't be at all surprised if the next reply is
Try this - remove the lens, cover the filter element with a lens cloth, then press the lens face down hard on the sticky rubber sole of a training shoe, and then rotate the lens. Clean the sole first!!
Try gripping the filter at about 90* from your original grip. Filters (and the filter threads on lenses) can get slightly distorted so the slight pressure in a different spot can make all the difference. Other suggestions would have included rubber bands, rubber gloves and filter wrenches but others have already done them!
