stuck filter help

Also make sure you gripping just the filter i sometimes half grip filter and lens duh!!!!

A little tip for undoing filters, as you look at your lens straight on "righty tighty" "lefty loosy" :D

I had the same problem once, borrowed a lens grip and short of damaging the lens it still would not budge.

I eventually placed the tiniest of drops of WD40 carefully from a small needle between the filter and the lens which quickly soaked into the thread, I wiped off the excess let it stand for a few minutes and it then came off no bother.

I must stress it was the tiniest of drops, it worked for me, but not recommended for clumsy hands and I won't be at all surprised if the next reply is

Always use wifes marigolds ( gloves ) never fails spec the lemon ones.

That's useful to see...I've had a skylight jammed on the end of my ST605's 1:2.2 for about 6 years :bang:

I carry a latex glove in my filter pouch for this very purpose.

And from now on you'll be paranoid always watch out how tightly you screw the filters on, I know I do!

Try this - remove the lens, cover the filter element with a lens cloth, then press the lens face down hard on the sticky rubber sole of a training shoe, and then rotate the lens. Clean the sole first!!

Try gripping the filter at about 90* from your original grip. Filters (and the filter threads on lenses) can get slightly distorted so the slight pressure in a different spot can make all the difference. Other suggestions would have included rubber bands, rubber gloves and filter wrenches but others have already done them!

Alternatively standing the lens barrel down on a bag of frozen peas for a couple of minutes may help.,

Lump hammer and chisel works too.

Be careful not to hit it too hard or you might break the front element of the lens.
