Having just checked out the image only thread, it has to be said that there are some stunning photographs there. Well done to all who had a go.
Crickey @ No6! That guy looks like he's eyeing your camera and waiting for you to finish before attemping a mugging!

That was soooo difficult...but quite enjoyable!
Mine are really rubbish - just some people in a street....but still posting a few just so i don't look chicken!

Well this is the first of my Black and White sets. Had a great time today, and really enjoyed the setup. Went armed with the 24 to 70. A big lens, but very well balanced with the D3.

Hi Ducky,
I still got loads to comment on here, just there are 130
Going to go through them all though.....
2 I think is lovely, although would prefer eye contact. Its the best of the set. Its annoyingly difficult, having the courage to point your camera in someones face is insanely hard.
Gary.
50mm on FF is soooo perfect imho. I can really see why its used.

Some great stuff been posted and the best thing about this thread is not the excellent efforts from Pete, Duncan and the like [brilliant though they are], but seeing stuff from people that have never tried this before, you guys deserve a huge hug![]()
well said Yv, getting out of your comfort zone and trying new things is often not easy but if you learn something from the experience then it's never wasted. And most of us have kit that can be used for this so it's not requiring any investment other than time.
I like the first few B&W ones, especially evil intent. Some of them are quite boring though imo, just shots of people with nothing interesting happening e.g. 15,17,18,21 22. Nice photos but not "street enough"?
Maybe, I am probably putting too much weight on capturing an expression, and at times ignoring the rest of the photo. The great thing about this thread, we will I hope after all the images are in, and after the judging, be in a position to as a group, go through them and discuss what we have learned. What works, what doesnt work. I am enjoying getting out, and enjoying the confidence I am gathering with regards to lifting the camera and shooting strangers. I must develop my eye now, and spot actual shots, instead of quirky glances I guess?
Gary.
Imo you have got some good ones, a few really good. Yeah its all about the actual shots which you have a few. To be honest I dont know if I would have spotted anything it I wasnt with Duncans creative mind!
Fabulous sets everyone ...wowzer, some seriously cool street shots to be found.
I can't go through commenting on everyone’s, just so many.
I've not had much of a chance to get myself snapping this week, nor today by the looks of my busy morning.... hopefully i'll get out next week, even if it is too late for this threads challenge I'll stick them up on it anyway.
Gary that first shot on this page hits the mark for me, something about the relation ship between the brilliantly tatty old tramp and then chatting stylish girls in the back ground, the excellent comp (and processing.) makes the man the main subject and the girls the secondary afterthought, this combo conjures a clear story for me.
The question is...did you think anything like that? ...why did you take that shot?
Loving the two fireman shot btw ... simply brill with the hose line curving through.
Would this be a good time to suggest its time for a new 'street' forum.![]()

Thing is that this is still only one or two threads. When GS overflows with street content then the mods would look to split them off. So far all the street chatter is nicely contained in two big threads.
Really like #14 Gary but I think your first set was better.
That was scary. This is rubbish, but I did it.
Hope it qualifies or is it more 'portrait' ?
