Yes
Last night I had my car broken into and all my Camera Equipment stolen :'( Stupidly, I completely forgot to take it out of the car like I normally do! IF anyone from or around the Swansea area is offered any of the following I would be really greatful if you could let me know.

The Camera and lenses are in a metal flight case, inside there is:-
my Eos 400d,
the kit lesne with a UV filter on,
a Tamron 70-300mm lens with hood,
a canon 50mm mkII 1.8 with a UV filter and a separate canon hood
2GB memorycard
Also the camera has the tripod connector screwed in the bottom. A reward will be offered for a safe return.

Thanks for looking

NO way mate :(

Keep an eye out on ebay firstly! i hope the car isnt to damaged

what a downer not much hope of getting it all returned did you have any cover on it?

get onto insurance company asap!!!

Ive already checked all my policies, its not covered because it was theft from a car :( Im soo gutted as now im a student its going to be really difficult to finance buying another one :( The car had the door bent back so usual, they pulled the alarm sensor out and went routing though my car

Ive already scanned ebay, im going to pop into the local photography shops / cash convertors and ask them to keep an eye out.

Same thing happened here earlier this year. My 400D plus several lenses including a Bigma were all pinched from the boot. I'd been out during the day but never took any pics, so left it in the boot overnight as I was going out the following day. That was the last I saw of it.

Checked ebay for some weeks, never turned up. Only good news is it WAS covered on my house policy. I've now replaced it with higher spec kit, but no way does it stay in the car now.

Hope your kit turns up soon.

It won't be on ebay so quick. At least a few days, maybe much longer. You need to be checking regularly right through until Christmas. I think there's a way to receive emails from ebay when specific items come up for sale, although I've never tried this. It may make it easier. My condolences. If I had some spare stuff to lend you I would, but all I have laying around unused are film cameras.

Im pretty sure I have the serials at my pernement home address as i have kept every piece of paperwork that came with the camera and additional lenses.

Thanks for all your kind words and advise, I hope i can sort something out!

Also, I have just remembered the camrea does not have an eyepiece hood, so another thing that may stand out...

gutted for your loss mate...i will certainly let you know if i hear of anything regarding your kit.i will also look in the cash converter shop in neath just in case the thieving scumbags decide to get rid out of their area...

OMG, so sorry to hear this. What a shocking experience.

I am in Swansea and deal often with the local stores; I will also keep an eye out for these items.

I'm in the port talbot area and I'll keep an eye out as well, check out the cash converter shops in swansea and neath, a lot of "dodgy" stuffs got rid of in these places. A lot of these thieves arn't the brightest of people, they will often try and sell the stuff locally!
My stepson bought his own laptop back from one of these clowns, well he didn't exactly buy it back, when the guy brought it round he got a warm welcome. lol. Wayne

I'm in Swansea too, I'll keep an eye out for this in case it pops up. Where in the Swansea area was your car broken into?

Im not from your area, but also keep a look out on Gumtree and places like that, it might just appear one day on one of those. Hope you get it back though.

sorry to here

i only just checked my ins the other day i was woefully undecovered so paid extra to up it for peace of mind

it was mainley the single item limit very low i also paid extra for out of the home cover

i only have one dslr but if you want to try film i have a canon eos 1000fn [but no lens] you could have free if it would help.

maybe we could see what people have to lend you or any spare bits of kit to help you out...

jeeze, real sorry to hear that :(

a lesson to be learned there for us all I think - not that that helps you now

hope it turns up somewhere - perhaps its worth putting the serial nos up on here so we can all keep a look out

im in wales to so ill keep a ear to the ground

Had all my CB gear stolen about 10 years ago, called the local CB shop and 5 mins later they went in there trying to sell it claiming to have run out of fuel and needing whatever cash they could get. CB people put it behind the counter and wouldn't give it back and told the theives to get out, then called police (who never caught them :().

Good luck finding it mate, sucks :(

Thank you for all your supportive messages and keeping an eye out for me people. I really do aprieciate it! I went down into the city centre early today, the local camera shop was shut but i have taken the number down off the front of the shop so I will ring first thing in the morning. The local cash convertors was closed too but couldnt find a number for them. I know its going to be a long shot of getting it back but i will remain hopefull for the timebeing.

The theiving scumbag cant have known it was a camera as I hadnt shown the camera to anyone down here. The only reason I had forgotten to take it out of the car was because I went out with the intention of using it, I didnt use it and went to see friend instead, hence I completely forgot I had taken it out of the house with me.

might be a worth giving CEX a quick call as some of thier kit even if brought into the store are trasnported round the country? I dont know if you have one local to your self but if you can get the serial numbers they may be able to help if any have been sold in there shops.

Any update with this?

Advice ...

Please remove your address from here, it is not wise for you to have done this. Afterall, a low-life theif may have trolled through the threads to see what we have and where we are only to get his Aladin-cave (or was that Ali Baba and the 40 thieves' cave) of goodies.

You've now given out the address of where a, in most probably, a new camera gear is about to be located!

Done, thanks for pointing that out Wail!

This morning I have been in touch with the local camera shops and the cash convertors place, both have taken the details of the equipment and my contact number incase anything comes in. I have also emailed the photography lecturer in my university and he has kindly put out an email to all the photography students asking them to keep their eyes peeled too. The police rang today to say there was nothing they can do....typical :(

IMO if you was working you should have said that you couldnt be bothered to pay your tax this month,
1) because they wont get the money
2) to see them at your door investigating tax faud with the specialist team...

Tyipical Arse's

Anyway back to the topic, i hope the scum bags are caught in the act of trying to flog this on.

Gutted to hear about that mate!

I've had my car broken into a couple of times and it's a horrible feeling, your own personal space being violated!

I hope it turns up, and the lowlife scumbag that stole it and damaged your car gets caught!

Dave

Tell me about it Gaz!!

I do feel very violated this week, everything the could possibly go wrong has done for my family in the past few days!! I have no hope in ever seeing it again, The police showed no interest whatsoever and just told me it will probably be sold on in a pub somewhere :(

Sorry to read about your misfortune bud.

I have an old Fuji S5000 you can have for the price of postage to
tide you over.

It has a dodgy on/preview/off switch but takes great pics (taken by
my 6yr old daughter).

Thankyou!! that would be amazing. I cant belive how genourous of you that is either!

I have a spare sigma 70-300mm that you could borrow if you need? (unless you dont think you will be replacing it with a canon dslr) As a fellow student, I know exactly how you feel!

Thankyou for the off mate but at this moment in time I cant afford to replace it :( Mid September I came out of a full time job that I had been doing for the past 4 years to further my education. All the money I had saved has gone on finding my feet/settling down. Im all settled in now but its impossible to find any work with the current state of the nation
