Last August I was laid off, couple of weeks later my Doc noticed very low blood count, endo and colonoscopy ordered on the NHS, my worst nightmare where I live. Fearing the worst because of low blood count and the internet search saying it's likely/possible cancer had me a little nervous to say the least, so I feel your pain. I'd had these tests done a few (10) years earlier too, didnt enjoy them at all that time, so this time round I said I was terrified, they did both tests on same day and gave me some dollop/sedation (make sure you ask for it, be a big wimp) to ease my nerves, tbh it was a breeze, sailed through both tests without a care, very mild discomfort at worst, the worst bit (sorry) was the stuff I had to take the day before to clear my system of food etc. Tests came back all clear and the blood count was "just one of those things", been on iron tablets since and the count is back up (I think - need another test, but I feel fine now). Haven't found a job yet though.
So chin up matey, if/when the tests come back ok you'll be asking yourself what you were worried about and the job situ will become a bit less of a worry and you'll be feeling great about getting the all clear.
I'm 61 by the way and most test come back perfectly OK, so I was told.
Best of luck for Sunday, I am sure it will all be fine, just make sure they do the endo before the colonoscopy, or change cameras at the very least.
