The following images are from the main viewing floor. Please note that the windows are tinted glass and therefore a colour caste on the images can be seen.
The viewing platforms give a superb view over the solent and harbour. 350 degree coverage is provided.

The first set of images show the narrow harbour mouth with Gosport to the right and Portsmouth to the left.

This image shows two of the three ferries that ply between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. The vessel on the right is the car ferry and the vessel on the left is the catamaran. They are seen passing each other in the hsrbour mouth.

Condor ferries (Commodore Goodwill) arrives in the harbour with trucks on board. This ferry will make its way up the harbour to the Continental ferry port located about halfway up Portsea island.

Brittany passenger ferry (Pont Aven) enters the harbour and will also dock at the continental ferry port.

Other transport links to Portsmouth.

The third ferry link to the IOW is the hovercraft. It berths at Southsea near Clarence Pier. It is seen here heading for it's berth.

Portsmouth Harbour Station (with direct trains to Southampton, London and Brighton), the berth for the IOW Catamaran alongside and the Gosport passenger ferry arriving. Just off the frame to the right is a large bus terminal linking most of the surrounding towns and villages.

Other things to see from here.

P3011209DxO-2-L.jpg

HMS Victory on hard standing in the dockyard.

P3011207DxO-2-L.jpg

HMS Warrior. The world's first iron hulled warship built in 1860. This ship was powered by both steam and sail.

P3011206DxO-2-L.jpg

HMS Ark Royal at the Dockyard.

I went up to the crows nest but did not find any crows, just this owl.

I hope you enjoy these.

Great images Peter, never been up there myself (er'indoors not keen on heights). Just one correction ;) the 'hydrofoil' is actually a Catamaran, the hydrofoils were sold off some time ago.

Thanks for your reply. Corrections on both parts of the post carried out:thumbs:

I live in Portsmouth also. I've been up there a couple of times, and I know how difficult it is to cope with the internal reflections. You did a splendid job in that respect.

Made a mental note to wear a long black raincoat for the next occasion - or summat !
