God you can tell it's getting cooler outside because all of the 8 legged buggers are having a mass exodus indoors.
I just found one making itself a coffee.. Well not really but it was big enough.
Damn thing had survived several assassination attempts with spray insecticide.
The reason I box 'em up for eviction during daylight hours, is that I'm damn sure there's another half a dozen hanging around the step, waiting to race in under cover of darkness while the door's open, if I throw them out at night. It seems to have been worse (or better, depending on your viewpoint) this September than I can remember in a long while.
Sat down to watch a film the other night and this thing the size of a frying pan scuttled across the carpet. Managed to catch it and chuck it outside, sat down, set the film going (feet up on the settee as you do during spider season) and another blasted thing, this time the size of a dustbin lid, legged it under the TV unit.
This one was aggressive and went on the offensive as I tried to coax it out with a stick and torch but I managed to get the b****r and that got the heave ho outside too. Where did house spiders used to live before houses?
I am embarrasingly petrified of spiders, if there is one near me & have to get the mrs to kill it & then insist on seeing its body before I will venture back in the room.:shake:
The mrs fave way of slowing them down to kill them, is to spray them with hair spray as this sets & makes them unable to move very fast, making dispatching of them easier!![]()
Someone needs to invent an in house spider repellent that actually works!
Doesn't a solution made by boiling conkers work quite well? Not got any conker trees close to us here and since having DG fitted, relatively few spiders.
...The male giant house spider, which I'm guessing is what you guys are seeing too go looking for a mate in the Autumn...
...As I tip them out onto the path... Then I stamp on them.![]()
NSFW: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12Tn38T9o5U Phil Jupitus about spiders and fear of same.

<snip>
Do the electronic sound emitting type gadgets that plug in to a wall socket work to any extent ?

Someone needs to invent an in house spider repellent that actually works!

I'm not sure I'd want to make it warm and fuzzy with pain relief spray!
Believe me, there was nothing warm and fuzzy about what was left !!!I found out from a loud scream that there was one in the bathroom. So, armed with a glass and envelope I went to open the hurriedly closed bathroom door and I couldn't, the damn spider was holding it shut. I pushed harder and harder still but the spider was holding the door firmly shut and I could hear its heavy breathing as it fought to keep the door firmly closed......... It's still in there and I think I can hear it laughing. :shake:
I also think it may have been using my phone whilst it's been in there to call some of its mates over and now I've just heard a scratching sound at the back door.![]()
Assuming you're still alive, get out of the house NOW !!!!![]()
