No
I mainly take pictures of the family together with some general outdoor scenery/buildings shots.

I currently have the following lenses for my Sony A6000:
Sony 16-50 Power Zoom
Sony 18-200 Original not the LE
Sony 28-70 FE

I use the 16-50 when I want to carry the camera around for the day and the 18-200 when I need the range e.g. shooting kids at school events.
Although I am generally happy with the 16-50 I do sometimes notice its poorer performance. (My current copy of this lens is good at wider FL but has noticeable issues as you get closer to 50mm.)
The 18-200 is generally a reasonably good performer with no real problems - but it is bulky with the A6000.
I did try the Sony 50mm f1.8. This was wonderfully sharp and I loved the shallow DOF. However, I found 50mm to be just too limiting for general use and because of this I ended up selling it on.

I bought the 28-70 to see how it would compare as these seem to be one of the cheapest E-mount lenses to buy second hand. (About £170 to £200 on Ebay.)
What I notice is that it provides better sharpness all round i.e. the corners are excellent, and slightly better contrast.
So for family shots I now prefer to use this lens.

However, it has made me wonder if would I get even better performance and wore flexibility by having the wider range if I switch to the 1670 Zeiss lens?
Would the 16-70 provide me with any better performance than the 28-70 FE?

Hi

I get confused with Sony lenses but do all the lenses you mention autofocus? I like the A6000 and considering it as an alternative to my Fuji X-E1 as I don't think the images will be any 'better' but the AF would suit me as like you I generally take pics of the family.

Thanks

Yes all of these lenses autofocus on the A6000. You can use the full frame E-mount lenses on an APS-C camera without issue. I am finding that the autofocus performance of the A6000 is making me move back to using my e-mount camera rather than using my RX10.

Saw that Amazon had these for just £495 yesterday so I ordered one.
I thought that at this price it would be worth trying it out to see how good it really is.
For example, I notice that my 18-55 is better than my 16-50pz but will I see much additional benefit of the 1670.
If I do I will have got a bargain. If not I can always sell the lens on, hopefully without making a loss.

Looks like the price reduction was temporary though - it is back up to over £800 now.

Wow - looks like you snagged a bargain! Let us know how it goes with the A6000. I'm getting increasingly tempted by the A6000. The Fuji X-E1 takes great pics but as most of my pics of the kids it's not ideal.

if theres a 30mm ish range prime in emount, maybe sigma one? then that would be a good option

As well as the 1670 Zeiss I have also got myself the Sony 35mm. I do feel that I need the stabilisation of the Sony.

How are you finding that 1670 Zeiss lens on your A6000, say in comparison to the 27-70FE that you've already found to be step up on the 16-50?

Notice the price is back up to £800 again - seems like one to watch out for.
