So who else is not having turkey for Xmas.

Turkey, chicken and salmon for me.
Come to think of it that's the only meat I eat all year round. :lol:

Errr... No. Not in the slightest. Is there something wrong in not wishing to celebrate a Christian festival with a meal with its roots in a different religion, most likely served in a non-christian environment by non-christians, should I choose to dine out in an indian restaurant?
 
Goose and duck for me. Accompanied by semolina and garlic salt coated tatties roasted in the goose fat, honey and sesame glazed carrots and parsnips, buttered sprouts and home made madeira gravy.
 
we'll be having a capon again this year, with smoked salmon (and prawns for those who can eat 'em - i have a shellfish alergy so non for me!) and there will be some ham as well i presume, all the traditional trimmings, i think there will be 10 of us for christmas day this year whcih will be really nice.

boxing day i presume will be chicken roast at suzies parents.



christmas curry sounds nice BUT i guess im a traditionalist at heart, curry for the leftovers!

ive never had goose and ive only ever had duck from the chinese, its part of next years resolutions to try new meats, gonna try stuff like roast pheasant and rabbit pie as ive never had them before
 
No turkey here

In fact I'm doing us a nice lasagne :D
 
We always have gammon on Xmas day and go to my mums on boxing day which we will have turkey then!! personally I dont like it!!!!!!!
 
My brother had beans on toast for his first Xmas after his separation :lol::lol::lol:
 
We've got a big feast planned but it will be Turkey I went and picked it up from the farm after finishing work at lunchtime.

Having home made brocolli, courgette and dill soup for first starter then prawns on skewers and duck spring rolls with chilli dip for second starters. Then the Turkey with everything and a gorgeous Christmas Pudding from booths for afters.

We'll be having Pork on boxing day.

I've had to buy all the wine as my dad doesn't drink.
 
Well, it was a question of economics for me, I got 2 large chickens for less that the price of a Turkey crown, so I went with the ChickChick, rest of the trimmings will be as Xmas dinner though, AsDa had virtually no veg and parking in town for the market was not going to happen today so I bought frozen, it will last me longer so happy with that.

I normally go to the butchers and local markets but just not got round to it this year :(

Stayed in Xmas Eve for the first time in years aswell !
 
We are having a 'Roast in the bag butter basted chicken' from Tesco :D It's delightful and soooo moist, how chicken should be!
 
Well for the first time I'm having two different meats on my plate this year, Turkey and beef, It will be different i guess.

Plus its the first year i wont be having my mums cooking... :|
 
For the first time in years we're having turkey, got a bit fed up of venison and a goose is just toooo much work!
 
We cant be bothered with cooking this year so we are off to the chinese for an all you can eat lunch, it works out a lot cheaper than if we had bought turkey beef and all the rest of it, plus its something different for a change.
 
No turkey for us as the wife isn't keen on it. Roast beef this year, with all the trimmings despite the heat. Actually it's only around 22 degrees today in Melbourne so still a fairly pleasant day for a Chrissy dinner.

Reading this thread has made me very hungry, where's those mince pies?
 
I think its very sad killing tukeys just to eat them.:'(

We are having chicken instead.:D:lol::woot:
