I'll give it a go again.

Is it really a year since I last moaned about the term 'disposable' camera?!!

Steve.

Oh go on then, I'll have another go at failure......:(:D

Sometimes you need to clear your brain of all this hi-falutin' thesis stuff, and go out and do something really daft for an afternoon, Jonathan. Go on, you know you want to! Numptycam at So'ton, what could be better? :)

I'll have a bash at this I reckon. Not used a disposable camera since I was young (well, about 7 years, but I was still young then :P ). Shame the 27th is the deadline as I'm hoping to be in the Wye valley in Wales kayaking on that weekend, would be cool to use a waterproof disposable camera and get some photos of me bouncing over rocks whilst drowning but I don't think I'll have the energy to develop it Sunday night when I get home lol.

Not used Rollei film before but I'll try one of those I reckon. Need to order some stuff from Firstcall anyway so the postage isn't too bad. I'm so excited :D

Just came back from holidays and used a disposable over there (was discounted in the supermarket, i couldn't resist...). I got the scan back a few days ago. I did some processing and cropping but i can pick the original file to enter the competition. Only problem is that i didn't know it was a competition and it's mainly snapping of my familly and i don't post much "personal" thing up here but there's a couple that i can upload. How many picture should anyone enter?

You can enter up to 3 but must be straight out of the camera, no cropping, straightening or tweaking or PP of any kind.

H'mm Nick it's not a level playing field as in my experience most scans from Asda need tweaking (probably for snappysnaps too) in PS so the guys who send their films to a lab will have an advantage  The only way around it is:- to stipulate that the content\subject is to be judged and not if the shot is too bright\dark\spots or whatever.

Yep - yep yep yeppers yep!

Now then - colour or mono? i.e. chuck the results into the wheel of fate or take control of them myself? Hmmmmmm....

That's the nature of the challenge, to get the best out of a disposable camera, if Adsa's scans aren't getting the best out of your films then send them somewhere else.

:D Ah! a challenge to compare Asda, snappysnaps, Tesco, Boots and uncle Tom cobbly and all......and labs then :D
In the old days we tweaked to get the print looking right, so nothing has changed.today.

Think one might be missing the point a bit there, Brian... ;)

It's not a serious competition. They're disposable cameras, not Nikon F6's with the best meters and Zeiss optics! It's meant to be a bit of fun...

Well Jonathan I know I do go on with small points  But shame a competent photographer's shot could be bad because of poor scan and he\she can't do anything about it...but doing your own scan is not covered then you would do your own tweaks......cheating as digital guys wont have a scanner:D
But I'll have to shut up as you said......... it's all a bit of fun

...it would be an equalizer if all the cameras were sent to e.g. Peak or whatever would be suggested..

Why does it need to be equalised? It's up to the photographer to make the necessary decisions to achieve the desired look for their respective photos.

Should we force everyone to shoot the same scene with the same film too?

Huh! Just for dev and scanning...anyway its all a bit of fun so lets see the results from a bad Asda or snappysnaps....I've posted a shot before of an aircraft inside a museum in a snow storm dev by Morrison

A great pic will transcend all other factors.

Maybe.. :)

...and filmies are a forgiving lot...well after all it's film for light leaks (lomo) tramlines, scratches, spots, uneven dev, poor scanning, too dark or bright, contrast, grainy, bad lens, etc etc etc :D

I am in too as it will surely be a challenge... and fun too.
I am not expecting to get anything remotely good but I'll do my best.

Managed to get my entries in but not very happy.

I took a B&W camera with me on holiday, used it up and bought a colour one-use out there and used that up. Totally forgot to develop anything or submit it, what a bloody fool.

:bang:

I swear to god, that one statement could sum up my entire photography journey
Thats the main reason I've stopped entering POTY

Bought a Rollei single use thingy but didn't manage to finish it.

:(

Completely forgot......what a numpty. :(

Still waiting to receive my prints from Ilford. I received confirmation via email from them last Tuesday but still waiting for the prints themselves. I guess I will be way too late (?).
:(

I think there's an extension until tomorrow?

I am sure that would help quite a few people.
Me, I am still waiting for my prints. I honestly had no idea Ilford would take sooooo long. Almost 10 days since acknowledging receipt and still waiting.
:(
