Because they never pay, for anything - see my edit to the previous post, re the heating grant.
What? You mean apart from being net contributors to the Nation?

You're kidding, right? We'll be paying for this, you don't honestly think the Windsors will put their hands in their pockets for any of it, do you? I mean they applied for a grant (designed for schools, hospitals and low income families) to pay for the heating in their palaces.
Bear in mind the Queen has a personal fortune in excess of £300million....

Ah! This was edited as I posted my first reply... no probs, but ... the 'palaces' are maintained for the state as are many other properties. They have to be maintained, looked after. They are part of the heritage that we can all enjoyYou say they applied? but did they receive the grant and how much was it? ... I'm not actually a royalist per se! but I do believe it's up to the country to look after it's historical structures, gardens or whatever

Graham I posted before your editbut to say they never pay for anything is a bit rubbish .... IMHO, of course

It costs the UK taxpayers 62p each to fund the royals, that was £38.2 million last year......

If that's true? then so what? .... 62p a year to pay for the Royal family is a damn site better value than paying for the rest of the ****** (!) .... The Royal family generate billions of revenue for the country ...... money well spent IMHO![]()

A whole whopping £38.2m last year you say?
The Figures for the Crown Estate Revenue returns for 2010:
Revenue by estate 2010: £million (excluding service charges)
* A Urban estate – 221.4
* B Marine estate – 46.6
* C Rural estate – 25.1
* D Windsor estate – 6.6
Now what was that about a tiny £38.2 million?
No, the application was refused
Name some things they pay for, you know, travel,food, holidays,that sort of thing......

Remember, until 1993 they didn't even pay tax, they had to be shamed into doing that
A touch of a 'strawman' argument here, perhaps you should say what they haven't paid for! .......Actually, they do pay for travel, food and holidays :shrug: perhaps your confusing state business with personal business![]()
So, they pay tax ....... Sounds to me like they are contributing quite a lot then?![]()
One minor point, that's the money the property, which belongs to the nation, made, not what the Windsors contributed to the economy...![]()
Those may be the Revenue figures, but is that the profit, and besides I daresay that involved a good few people who are probably glad that they are employed by the Estates.
Nope, that is the revenue from the Crown Estate which belongs to HMQ, but from which the income is passed over to the Treasury in exchange for the Civil List, under an agreement between Parliament and George III and it's confirmed at each Accession. Legally Prince Charles could tell Parliament and the Treasury to poke it when he becomes king.

I wouldn't worry about that, Charles will never be king![]()
I think you'll find that most of their holidays, other than those at royal residences, are paid for by their hosts, yet when the Middletons stayed at on of Charles' properties he sent them a bill for £3k....
Yeah, it would be nice to pay tax and then be able to claim all of your household expenses back![]()
If their hosts pay for their holidays .... so what? ..... Do you think they'll be going to Tenerife for a couple of weeks and staying in a hotel after booking it at Thomas Cooke travel :shrug: ...... If I have guests, I don't charge them :shrug: ... not that they'd pay anyway "Freedom!!!!".....................![]()

Somehow I doubt Prince Charles or her Maj. puts in a bill for washing their smalls? ......![]()
If you are worried about money, then you'd better hope that he does. Have a quick gander on t'interweb as to how much presidents cost!

So when that parasite piloting a helicopter comes to save you when you are stuck in a blizzard on Snowdon,you'll tell him to **** Off.
Oh and his parasite brother who fought in Afghanistan suppose he's a ****** as well,not forgetting the parasite Uncle who risked his life in the Falklands and the Grandfather who fought the Nazi's in WW2 and the Great Great Uncle who died in WW1
With my grandfather Who served along side him- Yes he did kick arse, and yes the Gurkhas even respected himAnd you forgot Mountbatten, he was an uncle wasn't he ? And he kicked 3 barrels out of the Japs in the Far East is WWII.
You realise that's just a drop in the ocean compared to what they actually bring into the country?
Andrew still smuggling extra duty free in, is he?![]()
Don't think i'd want to take up valuable space on my memory card,....£80m for a wedding at the taxpayers expense is a damned disgrace when you look at all the cutbacks that have just been announced.
The best thing about the royal family was spitting image![]()
