Yes
Everytime I go in the fs section there always seems to be a bunch of 7d's for sale with really low shutter counts.

Any reason why? Are they not what people expected or just a coincidence?

I was looking into one keeping my 50d as a back up but not sure.

Surprised at the ammount of 5dll's for sale too!

I'm keeping my 7D btw but might bite at one of the 5d's....so tempting..

i love my 7d...but full frame......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Could just be a sign of the times. People are struggling to make ends meet. A 7d or 5d is an expensive bit if kit. Easy way to generate a bit of cash.
Plus you will get people changing from crop to Ff and vice versa.

Maybe because they have come to realise how superior Nikon cameras are and want one.:lol:;)

I think it's just a sign of the times. I was discussing the possibility of selling mine last week, but my wife was insistent I'm not allowed....

She just likes the peace and quiet when he's out the house. ;)

I have a 5D2 but I am considering swapping it for the 7D for the faster frame rate albeit with a smaller sensor...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the 7D is better than the 5D2 overall, but my needs require a higher FPS right now. (I have a second 5D2 ;))

Whats a Nikon?

I heard a rumor once that many years ago they tried to make a camera, something horrific happened and became over shadowed by the glorious Canon god Dee Essus

I have to say I am trying to sell my 5dmkII at the moment with the intention of picking up a 2nd hand D700 and 35mm prime. Partly to save some cash but also because I realise I should have bought the D700 initially.

Great camera don't get me wrong.

I bought a 5dII to replace my 5d, but sold it within a week. For me it wasn't twice as good as my old trusty. Plus the market for the 5d has dropped to the point where I might as well just keep it and let the MKII drop even further (as it inevitably will), or wait for the MKIII (and probably buy a MKII then).

I really don't need a better camera - I just need to be a better photographer :)

Don't forget the tilty screen though and all the fancy in camera effects to play with

Waited until I saw what it was like, when I had, went and bought a spare 40D

I sold mine because although it was great, i couldn't get full frame out of my head.

I am now well and truly settled with my 5dMk2 ...

... until the mark 3 comes out :-)

The 7D is quite a niche camera, I would hazard a guess that folk are buying them for the wrong reasons and realising this.

I see a lot of 7D vs 5DII threads even though they are totally different types of camera - could be a clue

Doesn't the 7D need the manual reading to get the best out of it, especially with the AF setups etc? That might explain a lot of the negatives ;)

i cant understand why canon released the 7D in the first place. I think the strategy of varying each product in a tiny way and targetting various price points is oversaturating their product line up. When the 7D was released, what was the real world difference between it and the 50D, 500D and 5DMKII. What tiny little gap were Canon trying to fill with it?

Er...video with fast shutter speed? It's the 60D or 550D that don't make sense.

Because it's a brilliant sports and wildlife camera for those that can't afford the MkI series?

I don't understand why people would spend the best part of £1200 on a camera and then move it on, making a loss so quickly. Especially when that camera is one of the best pieces of equipment to come out of the canon stable for a long time.

The 7D brings all that is good about the 1 series to the masses (well, a lot more people anyway). If you shoot anything that moves, the 7d is excellent, and it's not that bad at portraits either.

I must concur with one of the statements above that people are buying the wrong camera to start with. If it's portraits & landscapes, then you need a 5DII, but if it's wildlife or sports, then the 7D hits the mark. They are both very different tools.

I absolutely love my 7D - it does everything I need and more. Sure, I'd love a 5DII also, but the 7D has really improved my photography. I'm so much more confident with it, it focuses so quickly, and it handles complex metering very well.

There may be better Nikons, but I shoot Canon, and as I also have a Canon film camera why would I change ?

Horses for courses, and people should think more about the equipment they buy before handing over their hard earned cash - I debated the 5D/7D thing for a day or so, but after trying both realised that the 7D was better suited to my needs.

Millions.

Was that plucked from thin air ? Lol

Think you would be surprised how many don't.

If I am paying 1000s on a camera I want the best features for pictures, not paying so much extra for a video feature.

If I want vedio I would buy a video camera,

Wow, bloody surprising on a photography forum that you weren't buying a camera to record video isn't it. I will look forward to more of your amazing revelations!

The point you're missing is that if you bought a video camera in that sort of budget, you'd probably get a 7D or 5DmkII. They're amazing.

Maybe she was worried it might really turn into an upgrade? :D

I think the 7d is miles above the 550d and 50d and it's very close to the 5d but remains a crop which for many is something they want. I think it makes sense to release it, the video capabilities of it alone put it miles ahead of the 50d and the 550d.

i agree with all but this

If it's portraits & landscapes, then you need a 5DII, but if it's wildlife or sports, then the 7D hits the mark.

I was more than happy with the portraits and landscapes on my 7d. I'd like to change this mentality of portraits and landscapes for the 5d and wildlife and sports for the 7d.

I think it's more about full or crop. Obviously there are advantages to portraits and landscapes with a full frame, but it's not one or the other otherwise it would be: 5d or 1ds for portraits and landscapes everything else from 1000d up to 7d for wildlife and sports!

The 7d is no worse at portrait and landscapes than the 40d, or the 50d, or the 550d etc. It's about whether you want the full frame sensor or not.
