So I have to fill out this form from the local council

Well they know who lives here, as I / we pay council tax

As above

FFS!

What happens if no one at this address votes?
Why do I need to fill out the form?

Bureaucracy at its best!
Why aren't they honest and say that its part of a census?
And nothing to do with voting?

And then they moan about not having enough money due to cuts, so slash other services to keep "essential" services like this!!!

I bet the taxi services for chubby little Johnny because his parents choose to move are still running as well. Another one of those money wasting services.

That only applied in our area if the child had a statement of educational needs (& you lived more than 3 miles from school)
Even the transport service to special schools is under threat these days.

Which can be basically any child ;) Mine had one as well, yes she had a problem reading but there wasn't a problem with her legs ...

My nephew who actually received it didn't have a SEN status at all....It is just a pure wast of time and resources, have children...get them to school yourself. I used to cycle 10 miles each way when I was growing up...

Uphill both ways? And did you have to get up before you went to bed? ;)

We wern't allowed to cycle the 1/2 mile to the local park / play area when I was growing up, the 10 miles to school would have been out of the question. There was a school bus though. It turned up most days.

It was a variety of country side, town, bridges etc. Nah didn't take long at all.

Why weren't you allowed to cycle to the park, let alone school?

2
exactly the same names as on the phishing letter they sent
So yes brain fully engaged thank you
And so if there were 7 adults living at the address, there would be 7 names on the council tax bill?

At my house there are 2 adults but only one name on the council tax bill. If they just *assumed* that the only people who could register as voters were the ones whose names are on the council tax bill, that would result in 50% of us being disenfranchised.

2 names on our council tax bill so we're equally liable if it doesn't get paid.

It say's the occupier on the envelope, I always bin junk mail :D

IF mail isn't specifically addressed to you, ignore it!

Depends what it is. The form under discussion in this thread gets signed, dated and returned so we can vote (and avoid a potential £1000 fine) but most promotional crap (worst offenders seem to be virgin) that's addressed to "The Occupier" gets marked as "Not Known At This Address" and sent back. If there's a pre-paid envelope in a mail shot, I have been known to stuff it to over the allowable normal thickness before posting it back.

That's because there are no hills over there :D

Because over-protective parents. Even when I was 18 and bought a car (everything funded from my own money, which I had earned) I still had to tell them where I was going, who I was seeing and when I was due back. I didn't have a meltdown / strop about it all like many teenagers would, I just kept my head down and bided my time until university then got a job in the same city as the university so never lived with them permanently again. That is probably why I still get on with them now, had I stayed after graduation there would have been a massive and possibly irretrievable breakdown in a few months.

Super twist :) love them. Jan Akkerman is a great guitar player.
You have to admire the "range" in Thijs van Leer's voice too!

IIRC the line up was Jan, Thijs, Pierre van der Linden, and Bert Ruiter

ooo you do that too Huh? :D
It does eventually seem to reduce the amount of junk mail too :D

Well, it would if Mrs. Nod didn't sometimes intercept the things and just recycle them!
