so annoying

So after recent high profile cases, surely the photographer in the original post has a legal case against the Facebook user?

She may have to actually name him for him to be able to take any action against her?

So your stats about women with cameras being 10 times less likely to be paedophiles than men with cameras isn't particulalry relevant as the ones I've seen in the news don't generally get caught for using a DSLR in public. The realities are far more serious than that.

Well, if theres one thing that the whole Savile thing has brought to peoples attention, it's that the worst offenders are often those in positions of trust or "role models", priests, doctors, teachers, police, childcare workers, TV personalities, footballers and close relatives.

It's time as a species that we started focusing our suspicions in the correct places, not at the guy with the camera, the guy with the full body tatoos and a purple mohawk, the emo, the goth or anyone else who just happens to stand out for whatever reason.

At the end of the day, it's just discrimination against somebody who doesn't appear to conform to what 95% of the population consider "normal" (read the next bit before ya'll take offense).

It's hard to appear "normal" when you look like a dalek with Nikon/Canon/whatever printed on it's head.

On the contrary, with more SLRs around than ever before, and more bridge cameras and CSCs that resemble SLRs, having an SLR-shape object stuck to your face (or held 18 inches away from it) absolutely is "normal".

Absolutely. And he probably is totally unaware of what we are discussing.
He's not the only one to worry. Her vague description (had a camera, mid-30's with mousey hair) and the enthusiasm of her similarly thick piers means that anyone else of an incredibly average appearance who likes daffodils is now a target for abuse because "we woz warned about 'im".

Whilst I've recently cut it short, I have mousey hair. And I'm 36. Occasionally I will take photo's of flowers.
You'd better lock me up now, vile pervert that I obviously am.

Nah, "normal" these days is trying to take a photograph by waving an iPad about

Absolutely correct, and I would add this. In many of the cases which involve the above, people around them have conspired to facilitate or ignore their evil deeds, and in some cases have attempted to cover them up.
Contrast that with this situation where paranoia and hysteria have been the only reason for false accusations, even suggestions that violence be used against an innocent victim.
What a truly sick society we live in.:shake:

Have just left this comment on the thread..

It is also interesting that Davina works for Plusnet. I mean that is company that provides broadband. If the guy taking the photos of the daffodils is with Plusnet he could be sharing photos of the reproductive organs of flowers. Oh my god that's pornography 'innit'.....

however its reasonably easy to spot the difference as the average tog is unlikely to be masturbating while taking pictures of dafodils )

I prefer Rudbeckias to Dafs and what I do in the privacy of my own home is my business
