so annoying

Facebook really is a cesspit of stay-at-home Mum's who've had their minds rotted to the core by programs like Jeremy Kyle.

My Facebook was full of this stuff, which was why I deleted my account. FB seems to bring the worst elements of humanity out in people. Especially women, for some reason.

I'm tempted to ask why you have a bunch of "stay-at-home Mum's who've had their minds rotted to the core" as friends on facebook?

Surely just "unfriending" (enclosed in quotes as I don't much like using friend as a verb) them would suffice, rather than deleting the whole account.

I always see people moaning about the drivel they see, appearing on their Facebook news feed.

Just remember, nobody has forced you to add the people that post the stuff you find so dull. These people are your friends. Facebook is not the problem, you just need new friends.

I have a plan!!!!!!!

An organised TP shoot at that location, all wearing freshly printed "Photographer, not pervert" Tshirts!!! I'd love to see the look on her face, hell i'd even post it on Facebook!

Read this from her page as well.

Important message from Crime Stoppers, please read...

While driving on a rural end of the roadway on Thursday morning, ...

Its was a hoax as i said :cuckoo:

I want to know what loathsome sick ars....es make these hoaxes up. They are such a boil on the butt of the human experience. Every time you hear / read one you have to go through the turmoil of 'do I call this bull, or leave the morons to spread it?':help:

Not to mention how filling the world with crap like this leads to morons seeing danger round every corner leading to this post in the first place.

There's two questions there, and I will provide two answers.

1. Because I do.

2. Because life is only that simple on Internet forums.

The wonderful middle ground is leaving the friend status and ensuring that they don't appear on your timeline - easy enough to do and politically peaceful. I see only a tiny minority of my 'friends' but it means I don't have to put up with endless teenage angst, god bothering, superstitious drivel, pseudo racist ramblings etc.

Actually it's 92.7%.......'innit ;-)

Actually I think you'll find it's a shade under at 92.68% but I don't like to sound pedantic. :geek:

:D

...unless you mean duck eggs, which of course are a completely different matter...

It's done so that people like/share the originating Facebook page, when it has enough likes, it can be sold to advertising companies for big £££££.

Generally it all orginates from gangs in Russia, China (via proxy networks) and Nigeria.

Those folk that believe everything they read on FB  (her post has hundreds of shares)

Agreed

I'm afraid that many FB users fall into the same sort as those who appear on Jeremy Kyle.
It's very easy to whip these idiots into a frenzy with little or no factual content and unfortunately they seem to see FB content as Gospel!:bang:
I'm actually ashamed when I see how some conduct themselves :(

I used to get a newsletter from an official body, which I won't name but they really should have known better, that often used to include "important warnings". Every one of them was listed on the hoaxbusters(?) website as not genuine.

I wonder if i'd get the same response, as a woman, taking photos of daffs at a park? I doubt it :/ Sad world we live in! I'm a mother of four, and if someone was taking photos in the vicinity of my kids with a dslr i'd more than likely approach them, but only to see what they'd found that was worth shooting ;) lol.

I did a shoot once where the little girl was playing in the gardens of a park. I kept my distance intentionally to do some unposed stuff and was there for a while. Not one person batted an eyelid.

It was arranged btw, not just a random child.

This sort of thing makes my blood boil. I took some photos a while back of some of my friends kids in the street and it included a little girl, she's the niece of a friend, and whose mum I'd known for years. Next thing I hear the girls 'step father' was calling me all sorts of things (P**** and all the other usual rubbish). Turns out the step dad had been in the girls life around 2 years and I'd known her longer and I'd known the mother for around 10 years or more. After a forceful chat where I told him the facts he actually apologised.

Even recently I was in my own garden taking some macro shots of bugs on the wall and fence and happened to be pointing in the general direction of the houses opposite. Not long after I had 2 people at my door demanding to know why I'd been taking photos of them and their houses. Not that it had anything to do with them, I did show them both some of the shots and now I have no problems and I'm quite regularly out taking pics. Educating these people instead of just handing them a piece of paper generally helps but it does get intimidating at times. If someone threatens me or goes to ring the police about me shooting then I'll just take out my mobile and ring the police about threatening behaviour.

After reading the FB page and remembering the above episode I just felt I had to post a reply on FB and I doubt very much I'll make many friends from the post. It was quite insulting towards some of the people posting on there taking on the womans point of view. For some of them to threaten violence or suggest relieving the photographer of their card or camera is unbelieveably ridiculous.

This is the thing really, it's not that she's gotten all paranoid, it's the fact that she's clearly quite a popular person and everyone has just jumped in to support her crazy accusations to the extent of offering to physically harm the guy with a spiked bat.

I have no way of knowing, but I suspect he was using a DSLR with a macro zoom lens. The second people see a long lens they just assume it's for perving over great distances.

You can try to educate people, but unfortunately the order of trust for the average UK citizen is Friends> Family> TV> Newspapers> Everyone else> Logic.

I was on the verge of doing exactly this a few weeks ago. I was putting a sound rig in Trafalgar Square in London for an event but had some time to kill beforehand so I had a bit of a wander round with my camera. I framed a shot of one of the lions with Big Ben in the background with a kid stood just in front of the lion (105mm stood a long way back so the kid was hardly a main feature of the frame anyway) but it wasn't working for me so I didn't take it. 5 minutes later this big guy storms over to me and bluntly says "you taking photos of my boy?" I said no. He wanted me to show him and prove it but I was shooting film so obviously couldn't, he then asked me again twice, again very bluntly, was I taking photos of his boy. After a 5 hour drive and at the start of a working day I was getting monumentally cheesed off by this point so I moved closer, looked him straight in the eye and fairly aggressively said NO. I'm generally a fairly placid person and wouldn't usually react like that but I'd just had enough of this idiot harassing me and the implications he was making, he quickly scurried off with his kid after I snapped at him. Had he even vaguely mentioned the police I'd have immediately pulled my phone out and said shall I call them for you... About you?

He was in the very centre of one of the world's busiest cities, there are thousands of DSLR's around and his kid had probably been in 20 people's photos already that day yet he felt the need to give someone a hard time. It seems he also missed the fact that starting on a random guy in the street wasn't setting the best example to his kid.

Utter, utter moron.

The thing is, look at all the moronic support that the bimbo on Facebook got, these people genuinely believe that they are setting a good example, by standing up to perverts. It's enough to make you want to introduce chemical neutering.

Couldn't agree more, it's insanely irritating and sadly for their offspring it's the old saying 'ignorance breeds ignorance'. Sadly as long as these people keep breeding and teaching their little ones they're own narrow minded ways it's going to continue. :(

Perhaps she only got the support because she is a moronic bimbo that just happens to have a lot of influence within her/their social group. If she can cause that much trouble for a random photographer, i'm sure she's more than capable of bullying and getting people isolated from her little group of friends.

She's also I believe a sales manager (at Plusnet), so she's probably somebody who finds it easy to convince people that black is white.

Then perhaps im giving her friends more credit than they deserve..... :(

Perhaps her company should be contacted so they're aware of what kind of a low life they have in a position of seniority. Seriously, why not throw some crap back at these people? They deserve it.

Well i kind of found out the answer to my own question today. I was walking along my local canal, and spotted some treecreepers flitting around. So i sat halfway up the bank, in between two trees, to try and get some shots of them. The set up is that there is the canal, then a path alongside it (just for pedestrians), then a bank and a second path (wider, for cyclists and horses), then trees, then fields. Its a popular spot for dog walkers.

So i'm sat there, and these two designer dogs run up to me. I stroke the dogs, being friendly, and i can hear 3 women in the distance. As they approach they call their dogs, and then spot me crouched there in the bushes :lol:One of them says "What are you doing there?" quite aggressively. I then moved my camera and she spotted it. Her and her friends then got more wary, and asked again what i was doing. I told them i was taking photos of birds, and they were scaring them away  They moved on, but kept looking back and me and obviously talking about me. The thing is, it was during the school day so not alot of chance of kids being along there, and theres literally nothing else i could have been taking photos of  Yet still with the questioning and funny looks! They probably thought i was a dognapper or something ;) Dread to think how they'd have reacted had i been head to toe in camo

^^ I was wondering what would happen if the media got involved....

To have someone that stupid and that presumptious in any role of authority, really bad business practice.

That's exactly the kind of thing I mean. A very well written letter voicing concerns for the company's public image when one of their more responsible employees is behaving in such a manner would possibly have quite an effect. Personally I'd love nothing more than to see this fool face some kind of action to make her think a little more about her actions!

A little would have little or no effect. I expect Plusnet to have a social media policy - but it would only be used against her position / employers were prominent in her post.

She obviously has some intelligence being a manager in a large company, just makes me sad that stupid people exist.

I actually see it the other way, her idiotic actions to me by far outweigh whatever abilities or intelligence she may have in her position at work. That's the real person right there on Facebook and it's that sole representation of her that I take into account.

I wouldn't be so sure, you only need the gift of the gab and a lot of arrogance to be a manager. Good one's are very rare in this country....

We recently had warning emails go round work that said if we put our employer on FB then we were in danger of disciplinary action if we did something that was deemed to bring them into disrepute. The result, everyone removing their employment details for safety. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find other companies had a similar view. Particularly as this is being discussed and they are now implicated in her behaviour.

However, are you as likely to be met with a response that she was behaving as a 'responsible citizen'? Because, the sad fact is that many people have a similar outlook, and for all I referred to her and her ilk as moronic, I'm betting that it's a common attitude at all levels of society.
