Honestly. I cried 4 times in the first 30 minutes. That's unusual. Also, the entire theater was captivated, silent for the duration of the movie apart from the funny bits. And for Bollywood it should be a ****ing wake up call. I'm not exaggerating, but this really is the best film I've seen for many years.

I am a big old softy so I had better take some tissues:'(:'(

not really my scene lol not enough blasty bits, i saw the trailer though

An amzing piece of film, you have to see this before you die :)

This was done as a play on Radio 4 a while back if I remember correctly. It was brilliant. Cant wait to see it.

Really gripping stuff done excellently!!!! Fantastic soundtrack too

Yep Danny Boyle. He's brilliant. Its definitely worth a look. I went to the cinema to see something else which was sold out so saw this instead - very glad! :D

i cant stand bollywood... probably same reason i cant stand bangra.... living with asians that had it on the TV and stereo from morning till night every single day.... for a whole year......

Haha well its not really a Bollywood film per se

Saw this a couple of days ago too. Really liked this movie.

Ashers, this one isn't bollywood. I've told a few people to watch this, and they all came back to me and said it was good.

Doesn't appeal to me, so won't be bothering. :)

I went to see it, based on all the hype, and was left feeling bitterly dissapointed - as is often the case with well hyped movies. Bit of a miss if you ask me...

You seem to be in the minority ;) :D

and your point in highlighting this is?

And why in response to my comment and not Ashers or Nilagins?

And why do you find it something to grin about?

;) :D

This is an incredible film precisely because it's not Bollywood style. Danny Boyle is a genius. It's shot with sensitivity and a good understanding of the culture. At times it's very brutal and gritty but has just the right amount of humour to make it enjoyable. Definitely lived up to the hype imo.

My point was in my post. :bonk:

And because I felt like singling you out. I mean, you don't even say WHY you didn't like it.

Come on folks, we're taking about a film here and everyone's entitled to give their feedback. Some of us liked it, some didn't. Leave it at that.

It's a wake up call to the Indian movie industry. I've never heard my mother talk about a film with such enthusiasm before this one.

I'm not so sure. Bollywood is a tailored industry. The people there don't want realistic gritty films. Many of them know what the gritty reality is first hand. Bollywood is escapism for them. This film won't change that.

I don't think it will change the industry in India dramatically, but it's no reason for Indian directors not to produce films tailored for the West. After all this film did feature a couple of well known Indian actors.

You're right about many of them knowing what the reality is, but my wife, who moved from India just 3 years ago said herself that she'd like to see more films like this in India. We've started seeing Bollywood mimicking Hollywood movies very closely. The quality of movies coming out has increased dramatically also. I don't know, but I think there may be some small changes coming through as a result of this movie.

Unlike an answer to my post... :bang:

What a charming person you are... :gag:

I mean, you don't even say WHY you didn't like it.

I didn't like it because it purports an unbelievable fairytale yet depicts some pretty brutal stuff such as torture. There's also holes in the plot, such as the kids suddenly using good english. I just didn't find the film plausible TBH. Oh, and i'm not really a fan of the quiz show anyway, but I tried not to let that sway me in respect of the movie.

And that is exactly why I posted what and when I did. The response felt like I had been singled out, and that was confirmed by KayJay - who seemed to think it was funny or witty to do that?

Try to be less sensitive eh? I'm in no way flaming or insulting you, so just relax.

In many parts of India English is a first or second language, particularly toward the South. Remember, it was under British rule for a while. And to be honest, a lot of people over there speak it better than the people in Britain do. They're taught proper good old fashioned English. Trust me.

You'll have to excuse me but I do like to discuss things on internet discussion forums. Sure it's you opinion as it is mine, but this place would get rather boring quickly if we all kept our opinions to ourselves.

Don't miss my response! Ashers, go start writing your book!

Discuss and exchange opinions by all means. Insult or flame me and i'll kick ass if it's undeserved. I'll excuse you this time but you're close to being on my ignore list now :D

Add me, like a care. My last reply to you was meant to make it clear that I'm not flaming you. But to be honest, maybe I should have. Thanks for ruining my thread. And try kicking my ass, you geriatric.

There's a flame.
