Slimbert's slimming thread....!!!

Due to my health issues I have been advised to stop the liquid diet and just eat food. This will make it more difficult as the control will be something I have to contend with myself.

Started last week and have been having a small bowl of cereal for Breakfast, Tin of soup and a dry granery roll for Lunch and a small evening meal, with the odd bit of fruit between meals if I am hungry.

Quite pleased, I put on 1/2 pound, so although it is a move in the wrong direction I will have put back on some water and glycogen, so would have expected the rise to be much higher than that.

Actually at the moment I feel okay and have not felt hungry at all. Surprised how small the meals are yet as I have come from a liquid only diet they are actually very filling and I am not looking for more. I am also taking a lot longer to eat the food and thus relishing each mouthful more.

Just hoping I can keep it up.

well done you, i did it the other way round and lost 4 stone and then stopped smoking, have been smoke free since boxing day, but have put on about 1/2 stone, so am now working on getting that off

I did it quite slowly and have exercised a lot. At first I swam 3 times a week and now I have worked up to running 5km 3 times a week. I also have a personal trainer once a week to keep up the motivation. I have now lost 26kg over the past year but more importantly I am now much, much fitter! Good luck!

Forgot to update this....:bonk:

Last weeks weigh saw me put 3lbs back on....this was due to my visit oop north where I demolished pretty much everything I could get my hands on for 3 days....including full fat soft drinks instead of diet ones, takeaways galore and a rather nice fry-up on the way to the Scarborough TP meet....I even managed to put away 2 x Wispa McFlurry's!! :D

Anyway, I was determind to reverse it this week and that's exactly what I did losing 3lbs and returning to my previous weight of 20st 2lbs!! :)

For the coming week, I really really really want to break the 20st barrier....so this week I'm going for another 3lb loss.....

.....so as usual, fingers crossed!! ;)

Well done you! I am currently dieting (first time ever!) along with my OH and several of my friends. About 2 yrs ago I jumped on the scales and found myself at 13st 8 and over 30 BMI. I had for many years had a natural weight of 11st 3 and BMI 25 which suited me and I seemed to stick around there. Couldn't believe I'd lost it so bad. Managed to shed some extra poundage just by cutting back a little, but I never seemed to go below 12st. This Christmas I had been 12st and by February I had piled on 10 lbs. :( Well I decided to do it for real and persuaded the OH to join me. We both want to lose 2 st. That would see me at 11st. I have had 4 good weeks with a steady 2 lbs loss each week following the Weight Watchers Pro Points Online programme. Chuffed to bits. I am heading to hit 12st again this weekend and then after that I am in territory I haven't been in for years. I plan to introduce more exercise once I get under 12 stone to encourage the weight loss because I am a bit scared that 12 stone has become my "new" normal :O

Every step is one in the right direction and even if there is the odd stumble backward, as long as the general direction is forward then good stuff eh?

A half decent week losing another 2lbs meaning I now weigh 20st dead.....bit gutted I didn't get under 20st but there's always next week....I'm having a really good week so far so I'm expecting somewhere around the 3lb loss mark at my next weigh in.....as usual, fingers crossed!! :D

Thanks Vikki!! :D Always nice to hear other peoples stories!!

Oh, forgot to mention.....for those that don't know me, I understand a lot of this is hard to put in to real terms. So to explain, for the first time in a LONG time.....I can now comfortably fit in to "George at ASDA" XXL size clothes......which might not mean a lot to some but it's the first time in years I've been able to fit into clothes that I can buy from "Normal" outlets!!!!

Small victories!!!

Big thumbs up, mate, can't be easy, look forward to seeing you in your Geaoge jeans....;)

just noticed this thread, well done.

Just a tip from me..........Use natural food rather than processed stuff.
e.g. Use butter rather than reduced fat spreads. The stuff they put into this sort of stuff make it harder for the liver to filter. Haven't read all of the thread, but I would say don;t go hungry, or your body will react by storing any fat you eat. Stick to a natural well balanced diet. Cut down on gluten products like bread and pasta. Spent grain bread is an alternative if you can find someone who makes it, but I must admit I've not come across it myself.

Hi mate,
Well done, been on a diet myself! I did the Slimmiing World one, a freind was on it so I tagged along. Found it really easy once I got into it. Started out at about 16 8 and finished on 14 21/2. The 1/2 was very important!

So keep it up, I feel shed loads better and I am sure you will particularly without the ciggies.

Dunc

PS Please pm me if there any more meets, I am not always on here and i seem to have missed a couple!

Or better yet, scrap the butter/spreads entirely for things like sandwiches where there's other stuff in there. In my opinion it's completely surplus to requirements with other flavours in there and the fat content is quite shocking!
