You do get to wondering were and why it's going that way ... even more baffling is when they turn round ... what have they forgotten :thinking:

interestingly I had to turn the bit of Perspex around a couple of times to retry and get the light right. Every single time I turned it, the snail also turned to head the same way it was originally going. No idea where it was headed, but it wasn’t going to be turned!
 
All worthy contenders, I do like the portrait flower with the water drops "hanging on for dear life"
Your explanation on the snail image makes sense, especially when it's an effort to move any distance.
 
Nice shots for Damp, lovely clarity and sharpness and fits the theme nicely.
 
Damp is an excellent shot. Great use of negative space and a lovely dof.
 
Week 10 - Seen through a window

I was full of good ideas (for me!) for this week, but as usual, time and circumstances have forced me into a bit of a corner.

The first photo here was taken as a bit of a backstop - just in case for this weeks theme, but turns out that it's the one I'm posting to the main thread. It's the window of a sweetshop on Penarth Pier in the Vale of Glamorgan. I've had to crop it tightly to get rid of some unwanted objects and paraphernalia that would have done nothing to enhance the image, so it's far from ideal but it is what it is.

The second shot is one from a group I hoped to have more success with but have failed miserably. Just down the road from me (well about 7 or 8 miles) is the St Athan airbase, now used for some maintenance and scrapping of planes no longer required. Nearby is the South Wales Aviation Museum, opened only three years ago. I've never visited until this Sunday (for obvious reasons). They've got a decent collection of aircraft including some you can actually sit in. This second shot is the view (my view) through the canopy from the pilot's seat of a McDonell Douglas Phantom. Unfortunately I don't have a wide enough lens to capture a really decent shot, hence why this is an "also ran", although it's here because it's a bit different.

The third shot is just to prove I was there and in the seat!

I'm sure there may be future themes that may necessitate another visit!

I think you have done well with the first one.
It fits the theme and is a strong image.
 
Your chosen shot works for me too.. it is a bit tightly cropped but obviously that was needed. However, there is a lot to see in the image...
 
Yep - No1 for the theme. No4 for the plane geek factor... love a Phantom!

Me too - used to live in Lincolnshire, and would see all manner of military aviation overhead - Phantoms, F-111s, A10's, Vulcans, Starfighters and more.....

Thanks Bee. ”Clamber” is about right. I near rocked my back trying to get into a couple of the seats. God knows how the pilots mange in full flying kit In some of those planes. They must be contortionists!

Chosen image fits the theme well, an interesting and dangerous shoppe to visit .. just looking put the pounds on
 
Old fashioned theme from you this week, the sweet shop thro' a window works very well given the constraints you had, the colours and light within the window is nice.
Them old phamtoms look scary old as well, these days pilots are not required for drones and could't fly todays planes with out massive computer help so it must have been good to sit in one.

The amount of dials and gauges in some of those older aircraft is staggering, especially when roared to some of the more recent ones which clearly benefit from a more digital age.
 
I like the sweetshop shot a lot. It's a strong image, and the detail and decay on the window frames look great viewed large.
 
I think your chosen shot is the best Simon, your second one would be cool if you could photoshop the windows to show blue sky and clouds!
 
Week 11 - Technology

I have to admit my mojo has gone a bit.I don't know if it's the week's coming around too quickly, or just that I'm busy with other stuff (it's not that I don't have time being retired and all, but there's always something to be doing or somewhere to be going). So this is a shot I captured a day or two ago when out for a walk down at Barry Island.
In amidst a housing estate the inevitable phone mast (and who knows what else) tower looming over the houses. It stands out nicely against the clear blue (for once) sky!

It's certainly modern tech.
Makes you wonder if the local households had any say in it's construction.
 
Well camouflaged - you'd hardly know it was there :oops: :$
 
It's a fine bit of technology Simon. A few years back one of the local telecom companies wanted to run fiber optic through our townhouse complex for "free". Buried in the contract was a right for them to put up one of these towers. Needless to say we nixed that "offer" pretty quickly...
