Simon's 52 in 2022

I think we're feeling a little similarly at the moment. Time seems at a premium even though I'm not working anymore and I struggled to find any inspiration this week. Ticks the box and has that warm sunshine feel..

Works great for the theme Simon. The blue sky really makes the tech mast stand out.

Week 12 - Discarded

I'm away this week on a family holiday in mid Wales. Whilst I’m taking millions (ok slight exaggeration) of photos, this weeks challenge has been at the back of my mind. However, I spotted this disused BBQ, or part of it including the wire mesh, high up on a hill overlooking the stunning Lyn Clywedog near Llanidloes in Powys.
why people can’t take their rubbish away anywhere is beyond me, but in such a beautiful spot - not to mention the risk of wild fires…….

Well spotted. Indeed the weekly challenge is in our minds wherever we go.
It's beyond me as well why this stuff is left there.

Nice image and great for the theme. It really annoys me that people think it's fine to do stuff like this!

Nice photo Simon ........... and please don't get me started...:)

Aftermath of idiots - but well shot :)

Nice Image Simon. I'm surprised the carried the wood, there's a perfectly good bench next to the fire pit ;)

We went to a waterfall at Raedar in Wales, a lovely, picturesque spot with a cafe and decent parking. I walked up a little pathway and there, round a small bend, was a dirty nappy that someone had delightfully left, presumably so that the rest of us could see what caring parents they were, ensuring their child was poo free. As in the picture above, a bloody disgusting manifestation of people's crass disregard for the planet we live on and the beautiful countryside we have in the UK.

Wouldn't have been quite so bad if they'd just taken the metal away

Beautiful scenery and you've ticked the box for the theme. Such a shame that these things get left behind.

Don't get me started on people not respecting the countryside... However beautiful a spot for a BBQ it shouldn't happen.
Great shot btw...

A couple of hundred yards up the road is an area with great views of the sunset. There used to be a few picnic tables there. Unfortunately, it's within an easy walk from several halls of residence and other student accommodation and it didn't take long for the tables to get burned by disposable barbecues being used on them.

That's a wonderful scenic shot Simon. Well composed and exposed.

Thanks Bill. Lucky to be in a beautiful part of Wales this week (not that it’s all beautiful of course)!
Just a shame some people can’t take their rubbish away.

Heres an iPhone shot from the other side, taken today. B90C1C42-2679-478A-A772-D805D0CA75B3.jpeg

Week 13 - Flora

These shots are all from yesterday, the last day of our holiday in mid Wales near Llanidloes. As well as the stunning scenery, we had warm days (17 degrees C) and freezing conditions with a smattering of snow. These are some shots that I took with yesterday's notified theme in mind. I was halfway up a BIG hill when I checked the theme that very nearly killed me getting to the top (not as fit/young as I was or think I am). but on the remainder of the walk there were a few shots that gave me an opportunity to capture something for this week's theme.

I love the reservoir shot, but in general, for the theme I prefer the wall and bough shots

Luckily this was at the bottom of the climb, not at the top!

Your chosen one is fine but the reservoir shot is equally good.

A great set of images Simon. The wall and the reservoir shots are the best in my opinion all (except the funny fauna in the last shot) would meet the challenge.

Like the first four images Simon, jury's still out on the fifth one ;)

My personal preference is the blackthorn and lichen image

Thanks Duncan....the efforts we go to for a good photo!

A good selection of shots.. I'm with you on the reservoir, its lovely.
Looks like you've had the same variations in weather as I've seen here... snow, sun, hail...sun..

Thanks Helen. Yes the weather got colder but luckily apart from these few snow flurries we only had about an hour or two of rain all week

As a subject matter, I like the mossy bough, also the stone wall, a different take on the expected.

Thanks Alan. Flowers (though a perfectly acceptable subject) seemed a bit obvious so I tried to offer something a bit different. Glad you liked them

Oh my that looks chilly. I like the mossy bough, but love the reservoir shot. I really like the gorse in the corner sort of anchoring the scene. (well I know what I mean :ROFLMAO: )

Thanks Bee! I couldn’t get enough of the reservoir from the viewpoint there. I’d love to have tried a sunset too as it’s looking west (ish) but didn’t get the chance. Another time maybe - I’m sure I’ll be back !

Week 14 - Unusual

A bit of a quick and dirty effort this week.

I've been very busy in the last week - well actually I haven't, I've been playing a LOT of golf (and some of it quite badly, proof that practice doesn't necessarily make perfect  ). The opportunities for finding a suitable image for this week's theme have therefore been very limited. I did go out for a wander around today, but haven't found anything that interested me enough to fit this theme. I've therefore (and in line with my activities this week) reverted to a shot of this golf ball with which I scored my first ever, and so far only (hence it's UNUSUAL) hole in one a couple of years ago.
