weekly SimonB 52 for 2022 - Week 52 - Showcase

Both good images Simon. It doesn't matter to me if Precision is similar to other shots. I'm sure if @Cobra gave a theme like sunset for instance there would be a lot of like minded shots, and it's not about shooting something different to everyone else, but what you want/see, or what opportunity presents itself.

That Vernier caliper looks well used.
That piece of wood looks a bit long to me:)

Exactly.
"narrow themes" will always produce variations on a theme..

Two good shots there. Have to say your log store could also illustrate precision too, compared with my random stacking method anyway :)

I’m sure yours is just as neat, it’s surprising how quickly the wood can go.

Nice images Simon, I think that the cord of wood is a great take on the rustic theme and your precision shot is right on target.

Thanks and good pun!

Two good images, but like the log shot as just find it pleasing to look at.

Thanks I was quite pleased with how it turned out.

Very true! I was quite impressed that a lot of people chose a calliper. I tried to be clever with mine by measuring a up to a particular number.

It was acquired from a previous occupation:oops: :$

That’s what makes this forum so interesting to see how each person interprets the theme!

Looks like the wood in my store, I can just get a 1m2 load in if packed tight.

Another take on a similar presice instrument, but they are all different.

Thanks, my wood store holds about the same just got to spend the time stacking it neatly!

I had quite a bit of fun with this week's theme. I set up a tripod in the back of the car and set the shutter speed to around 1 sec and my wife went for a drive around the block. It's not particularly easy to capture an interesting view and keep the inside of the car in focus, but it came together in the end.

Quite liked this one too, we were going around a roundabout at this point. I think it's pretty cool seeing the blur going across the windscreen. I tweaked this picture in LR and decided to pick a preset for the exposure etc.

As ever it's always tricky to pick the better image.

Superb work. Your efforts were definitely worth while. Number 1 would be my preference.

Interesting stuff and good results! :woot:

Excellent idea. Your wife is a good driver and must take some credit.

Some cracking shots you've produced. Such a great idea and must have been fun too.

These are cool Simon, they look like a shots of a driving video game

Great Idea, and they both came out really nicely.

I like the train tracks Simon but the first image of the leaves really screams Autumn to me.

Tough choice! They all fit the theme. The rain drops really add to the second shot. 1st is probably the most autumnal, I think, but the train lines the most photographically interesting. You can’t go wrong with any of them :)

It’s the train tracks for me Simon.

I like the fact that it says Autumn without screaming it.

Nice set Simon. The train tracks fir the bill perfectly.

Thanks everyone for the comments, good to see different opinions!

No1 would have been my choice. Unless the last one had a train in :D

Nice set, for me it's the leaf in the puddle as I like the movement the raindrops give the image (no good for the tech though, obviously).

Good set Simon.
I too prefer the puddle, but to choose a + tech image makes sense.

Ha, it was just typical that 2 mins after I walked away that a train went past!

Yes, I was leaning toward the left picture too but I wanted to grab the tech at the same time.

Good set Simo.

Yep tech took priority in this case!

I always seem to find the snappers choice a little tricky to do, so I was feeling cold and a bit lazy last night so I got the log burner going and thought it would make a nice warm picture. It took a couple of shots to get the right balance of lighting and blur from the flames.

Lovely warming shot! Room for pizza in there?

Autumnal. I'm with your on the chosen shot and it fits the tech perfectly.
Snappers choice. Really well executed. I've tried to take pics of mine many times and not succeeded so I can understand how well this works and it makes a very pleasing image.

That's a great holiday pic Simon. You could have that on your computer next to the Christmas tree and feel pretty comfy and cozy.

Thanks, it did take a few shots and a bit of lightroom to get it right.

It's getting to that season so that's a good idea!
