Thankfully not Covid I did plenty of lateral flow tests. Tickles the nose somewhat.

Love your alley shots. Just perfect for the theme. I haven't been to this place, but this is making me want to go. Are you allowed to walk through the alleyways? My friend keeps telling me I'm missing out as I did read all the books and watch the films.

Sorry to hear you are suffering. Nicely composed scene.

I hope the household is all healthy again soon. It's never a good idea to share your cold with your wife :)

Thanks for your kind words, everyone is better now even the wife!

If you enjoyed the books and the films then I would say it is well worth a visit. I may be biased however as I have been several times. The alleyway is part of the tour as is the great hall and so many more sets. You do have to book quite far in advance though!

So this is the picture that inspired the submission that I put up, the sunlight was bouncing off the crystal fish was quite a cool effect. While I liked the picture it just didn't quite do it for me. Therefore after watching a Marvel film and coming across a Thor Minifigure I have lying around, I had an idea. I ordered a prism online which arrived today and I set about creating the Bifrost effect.

Excuse the horrible carpet! Still getting around to decorating the lounge.

I had to think back to my school days on creating the rainbow effect I was after but I got there eventually. So this is my take on the theme, it was quite fun to play around bending the light and trying different ways of making it work.

Extremely clever take on the theme Simon, now you just need to get rid of your carpet :D

That's a really cool image. Thanks so much for sharing how you set about taking the shot - really helps non creatives like me to try and think more about shot set ups
 
Really interesting image, thanks for providing the behind the scenes too, wonders "do I need a prism in my life??"
I feel the image is stronger cropping from the right so that the colour reaches the edge.

I'm far from creative! Everyone on this forum has given me so many ideas and inspired me to try different things, Thanks for the kind comment.

I agree with you looking at it again. I think I would also take two pictures, one without Thor and one with, and then try and photoshop the shadow out to create a greater impact. One for the future. Everyone needs a prism :ROFLMAO:
 
The forecast for the rest of the week here is looking quite good for once, so I thought I had better get a move on before everywhere dries up. A damp walk in the woods was had yesterday and there were plenty of damp things to take pictures of. I took quite a few pictures on my walk and I thought I would show some of the better ones and other contenders for this week's theme. The Berry picture was my favorite as I liked the sun shining through the water droplet and it's a nice sign of spring arriving. I did some minor tweaking with the picture and removed a stray leaf too.

The log and the crisp packet were the other contenders as I like the detail on the log rings but it doesn't scream damp to me. The crisp packet I thought was quite a sad reflection on our society to leave rubbish in a woodland area. I dutifully threw it away on their behalf...

Saw a couple of birds on my walk too the Robin was easy enough to identify the other bird I believe is a female Sparrowhawk, perhaps someone with better knowledge than I can confirm? I was really wishing I had a longer lens the 135mm wasn't quite cutting it!

Nice set of shots and I really like your chosen one which fits the theme well - well spotted!

It's funny I was looking at my log pile yesterday and thinking how wet the wood was looking, and how I should move it - but it never occurred to me to photograph it - doh!!
 
Good choice for your submission. The crisp packets are damp and good on you for putting them in the right place.

Oooh interesting, I looked up the difference between a Buzzard and a Sparrowhawk and they do appear easily confused to the untrained eye. Thanks for that (y)

I think that you chose the right shot Simon. I do like the first bird shot but the one you've chosen suits the theme better.
 
My favourite is the berry image, the refraction through the water droplet really punches the image ... very nice
 
Great set of images, at least you can capture the birds, anytime I try they move at speed away from me.
The crisp packet is probably my favourite, although shouldn't be there in the first place. For an item so small you can fit it in your pocket it makes no sense to drop it on the ground.

An interesting set of images. I do like your chosen shot... well spotted. You've captured the light beautifully.
 
I had a few ideas for this week's theme but the rattling of the cat flap sparked an inspiration. Although you could righty argue that it is a door rather than a window the cats will quite often stare through it! I recall someone saying once don't work with children or animals, how true, it took some convincing to get just one cat to come through on command. It just worked out well that the tabby came over to see what the fuss was about.

I love this! Great timing of the shot. We have the same cat flap :)

I don't know if you've come across Paul Bronks (@slendersherbet) on Twitter or Instagram, but he puts funny captions to images like this. He often brightens my day :)
