weekly SimonB 52 for 2022 - Week 52 - Showcase

Good timing and fits the theme well.
A cat flap is definitely a window.

I love that.

That’s brilliant! All came together purrfectly…….

Very original

This really made me smile. Nicely captured.

Fab kiity pic :)

I love this! Great timing of the shot. We have the same cat flap :)

I don't know if you've come across Paul Bronks (@slendersherbet) on Twitter or Instagram, but he puts funny captions to images like this. He often brightens my day :)

No I haven't I shall have a ganders (y)

Very different and very original. I thought it was a mirror image of one cat.

Thanks for all the comments everyone!

That's a great image. I love the look on the cat's face.

I think that it's a great shot Simon. Good capture. I can't tell if it's two cats (one staring in and one staring out) or a reflection (in which case you've managed to get the tech portion of the challenge as well!).

Thanks! they were certainly wondering what the hell I was up to!

Thanks! The thought crossed my mind too about going for the reflection but I wanted to challenge myself.

Technology! A theme that's right up my street. I thought this would be a good opportunity to tick the box for the reflection technique too. So this is a picture that reflects on the progress of technology from the mighty pen to the digital pen. Some may say its progress others may say its pointless, still each to their own.

I hope you all like this take on the theme.

Reflecting on technology
by Simon Brown

Cracking demonstration of “progress” through technology. Fits the theme perfectly. When I was working I tried really hard to go paperless, but I just couldn’t do it! Post It notes everywhere

That's a good one Simon, I like it.

Thanks :)

Liking this one Simon, good take on theme and the Tech.

Thanks :)

Great idea. Ticks the box for theme and technique.

Thanks :)

I know the feeling, they have done a partial move to paperless. I long for pen and paper it was so much quicker.

Very effective. I like it.

Great shot. A really good take on the theme.

Thanks guys :) (y)

Clever clogs shot!

I have a tablet pen, I rather like it but my handwriting is better when using a pencil.

Clever take on the theme. Personally I still use pens but so infrequently my handwriting (which used to be reasonable) is pretty illegible to everyone but me!

We went for a walk today through Ingleton Waterfalls, the weather was spot on, and although a little busy it was a very enjoyable walk. I had the foresight to bring my camera along in case I saw anything for this week's theme. When about halfway around we found a bench to have a snack and found the remains of a discarded picnic!

OK I confess, it was the remains of my picnic which was promptly thrown in the litter bin!

I thought the mono and the splash of colour would make for an interesting picture and help keep me sharp with using photoshop.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Well processed.
Makes the discarded items stand out.
Plenty of bokeh as well.

Popping well :)

Nice image Simon ... the colour really works

The pop definitely works. Nicely framed and processed.

It's a good shot Simon, and the selective colours are a great choice.

Another excuse to go for a walk in the local woods and see what I could find to fit for this week's theme. It was also a good excuse to use my recent purchase of a second-hand Canon 70-300 lens and see if I could spot that Buzzard again. I took a few pictures that I was happy with and of course, struggled to pick the one I liked the most to submit!

So these were the contenders:

Tulip

Veins

Bluebells
by Simon Brown

I opted for the bluebells in the end as for me it just seemed to fit the theme better. The Tulip seemed too simple and the leaf didn't seem to fit the theme of flora plus the tip being out of focus annoyed me!

I did end up spotting a Buzzard, the poor thing was being harrassed by two Seagulls still it was a good exercise with the new lens. I also became aware that I was being closely watched too!

Thanks for looking.

Lovely shots Simon. Your chosen one is well executed, but I love the tulip and the leaf, especially the way you've shot it sideways.

A good selection you have there. Those bluebells seem very early?
Personally I am leaning towards #2 for composition, colour and detail.

Fab set Simon. I think I;d have gone for the leaf.

all good Simon but I do prefer that Tulip shot. Leaf very good too.

Tough choices Simon. All the flora shots were good. I really liked the second own of the leaf though.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone, I find it fascinating reading which pictures people prefer.

It makes me wish I put up the other picture but that’s how it goes :ROFLMAO:

A fine set of images Simon, I like the bluebells (ours are nowhere in sight yet), the symmetry of the leaf and the colour of the tulip is intense
