weekly SimonB 52 for 2022 - Week 52 - Showcase

Yes, good shot. Leading lines (literally), and a sense of movement along the tracks

This is good Simon, it really give the impression of standing at the back of a speeding train.

I like it. It conveys sci-fi like sense of speed.

A nice image ... Snappers Choice and ICM boxes ticked

Works for me.

Yep - box nicely ticked :)

That’s a lovely use of ICM.

Definitely conveys a feeling of speed, works well

Thanks for the kind comments everyone!

That works really well.. it makes you feel like the train driver!

As others have said you get the sense of speed. Good technique.

Works for me too Simon, great impression of speeding down the track.

Did you have a PTS (with lookouts) or a possession of the line?
If not, do you realise how dangerous that was?
Sorry, but if that was a live line, then that's not clever.

Worry not, the line is disused and undergoing refurbishment at the time the picture was taken. It is used by small tourist steam trains so the lines are not live. Thanks for your concern and I quite agree that one should not be messing about with railway lines.

I have now clarified that in my original post. (y)

So I was walking down a very famous alleyway last night and I had to keep my wits about me, I heard that Deatheaters were around. It is of course Diagon Alley from the Warner Brothers studio tour, this was taken on my phone and required a bit of editing to get the effect I was after.

Into Diagon Alley

This was going to be the actual submission but the lighting set above distracted the picture quite a lot and I tried with not much success in my opinion to remove them and place a more realistic night sky instead.

I did find this very interesting paper model version of the alleyway that the filmmakers use to plan out their scenes.

Excellent
and (perhaps) sadly, before I read your post info I thought, that looks just like Diagon Alley!

Really love the paper movie set. All are excellent but, the paper one is outstanding.

It was amazing to see, I would never have the patience to build something like that.

That's a good shot of a dark alley.
I like the way the light picks out the cobbles.

I like the shot you picked, more alley like, the processing works well seeing it was taken on a phone.

Fab stuff :)

That works really well and it’s fascinating to see the paper one.

Fab stuff :)

There's nothing wrong with a phone shot.

Works really well.

Thanks everyone, love the feedback :)

Mine was a phone shot too this week.. sometimes you just have to ;)
I love the paper version...

It did look a familiar scene, well captured with the paper version my favourite of the three, although the lighting on the cobbles on the first looks good.

Indeed you do!

Thanks for the comments!

Ooh, I thought Hairy Pothead when I saw this in the main thread. Very good. Great editing :)

Ha thanks, I wasn't sure how obvious the location would be. :)

So I've been suffering a little bit this week, not due to the theme challenge but the b****r of a heavy cold I got over the weekend. Thankfully the medicine cupboard is full of miracle cures that found their way to the bedside. They were perhaps placed there for dramatic effect and not all taken at once either!

I had a play with the arrangement and lighting and I think the setup works.

Feeling better now, although the cold may have been passed on to the wife...uh oh!

I like the image Simon (if not the thought of why they were there in the first place).

Nice shot Simon and a good one for the theme. Hope you’re both feeling better soon.

Good idea well executed.
Better get well soon as this coming week’s theme is not far away.

Nice image & idea. The way I'm feeling atm I could use all that lot:)
