Hi, i recently picked up a nice cheap sigma 70-200 on the bay. however, i am having some serious focusing issues with it. Here is an example of what happens. I was using the centre AF point.

the posts on the LHS are nice and sharp, which suggests to me that the lens is backfocusing a bit. Is this repairable, and does it make financial sense to do so? There is no obvious damage to the lens, and the seller assures me that it produced excellent shots for him when he last used it. might this have been caused by a knock in transit?

cheers.

hmm, i wonder whether this would fall under 'all lenses - minor adjustment' or 'autofocus lenses - focus' or worse even. I recon i could deal with paying upto £70 for the fix, but any more would be pointless.

I'd imagine it would count as a minor adjustment in the 30 odd quid bracket.

if you want to be a little more accurate with your tests before you spend cash on it have a look at this focus chart it'll show exactly what the lens is doing and will help Sigma diagnose and correct the issue.

awesome, i'll see if i can find a printer that works in my house. not the easiest lens to use with that chart though, shame i can't print A3 really.
