Their ceramic clear filter is supposed to be something else - seen a video of someone hitting it with a hammer a few times and it still didn't break - normal glass one went first tap[emoji33]

Are there _any_ filters worth putting on the lens which won't degrade performance, in order to protect it ?
Also, if anyone could provide me with some settings out of the box for BIF/Planes, such as OS 1 or 2 setting etc. I'd be very grateful.

Os1 and os2 will work out of the box.Do you have the dock?
If not settings 1 & 2 do nothing as they are programmable via dock only.
Dynamic OS and fast focus are good settings for me at least.
The Black Rapid strap is perfect for these lenses, the RS-7 is the one I used with the C and now use with the Sport. Not cheap but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for and they are worth the £'s.Any recommendations on a good strap please? Is the Black Rapid Sport any good?

I don't know the answer to that, sorry. As far as I knew there is only one but I could be wrong - try their website as it may say on there. Thanks, do you know if the Sport strap comes in different materials as camera king are selling one entitled ..........Black Rapid RS-Sport Ballistic Nylon Camera Strap Bomb-Proof Nylon Webbing
I had a play with mine last night, I think I need to strengthen my arm muscles! I am glad I didn't buy the Sport version......

Looking really good Ray, nice shots. It's a great lens and I'm sure you'll get more used to it but you've certainly made a great start!View attachment 67066 View attachment 67061 View attachment 67062 View attachment 67065

A great collection of shots Mark, looking very good indeed.
Quick test of Sigma 150-600mm C. by Swansea Jack, on FlickrHi all,
I installed the dock tonight, expecting to upgrade the firmware on my lens but it says I already have the latest firmware (v1.02) is that correct? If so then my next question is which customisations shouldI use for an airshow?
You can select dynamic is with the dockI've never heard of 'dynamic IS', I have the sport version of this lens and can't see a 'dynamic' selection switch, or is it just for the 'C' version I wonder ?
Well a! Bit disappointed yesterday .not sure if it was user error or lens, but I was trying to track a peregrine over the sea, I was on spot focus, and the sea was a bit choppy but bird was quite close ,so would have thought that it should have locked on quite easy, but it didn't, in fact the lens locked up a few times, and had to be either turned off or pointed at something that it could focus on quite easy, raining all day today so not been able to get out to try some different settings..
Yes camera was set to continuous focus, there's no issues with speed of the lens it's the ability to catch subject in messy background s that seem to be the problem, not sure if it's the lens settings or camera? I had no problem with it tracking swifts in clear sky's. Thanks.Never heard of this with the Siggy. Are the contacts on the camera clean? Have you got the dock and tuned the lens to its fastest setting (though I found its normal setting very fast and accurate straight out the box)? I'm not a bird man but I managed some great BIF shots straight out the box with my 6d with my first attempts (and I'm no expert in birding!)
PS - I know I'm stating the obvious, but the camera was on AI Servo wasn't it?

D7200 ,also thinking that it's camera. Perhaps I'm asking too much from camera trying to track a fast flying bird over messy background,s..

LCE, amongst other things, first said it could be the camera
