I confess to being a bit puzzled by the OS (image stabilising system) on my Sigma 150-600 Sport, on my Nikon 200-500 there is a noticeable visual and light audible response to the VR kicking in and dropping out.
The Sigma lens recently went to Sigma for re-calibration but while they had it they fitted a new OS system, obviously they found the original to be faulty.
When it came back I didn't notice any difference in the operation of the OS to when it went away if I'm honest but a few days later I noticed a very responsive 'clunk', when the OS dropped out after the AF button was released. This change was a bit puzzling but I thought no more of it until a few days later when the 'clunk' disappeared!
I now find myself thinking, was it working okay when I got it back from Sigma, or was it working only when I heard the 'clunk' and so is it now not working again ... or was the 'clunk' an indication of a fault?
So I guess I am asking a couple of questions of those who have had experience of using the Sigma 150-600 Sport or Contemporary.
1. What experience, visual or audible do/did you get when the OS is activated with AF?
2. When using customised settings C1 or C2, what position did you use the 'OS Switch' in (Off, 1 or 2)?
3. Does using C1 or C2 over-ride the 'OS Switch', or vice versa, or do they work together in some way?
I have the Sigma manual but it does not seem to address any of the questions I have.
