Sigma 120-300mm OS testing

That's impressive, especially the last few  Thanks :)

I have just rented this lens from Hireacamera.com

I shall report back!

Here are a few samples from the other day. I have provided a shot of the full image and a 1:1 crop of the point of focus. No sharpening has been applied.

Very impressive Tom

Very testing conditions too, shooting into bright light like that. And nice pics :)

Thanks Hoppy :) It's an extremely capable lens, I shall be replacing my 100-400 with it as soon as I can. I haven't used it in anger with my Canon 1.4x converter but the few shots I took out of my window of a lamp post looked pretty sharp.

This lens seems almost to good to be true

I'd love to know how servo focus tracking compares directly to the 100-400L ;) The other lens I'd like to see it up against is the Canon 70-200 Mk2, with and without 1.4x.

I'll be using both at footie this weekend with the 1.4x on the Sigma. I'll put a thread up if the shots are good enough! :D

Good set of sailing pics there Tom, especially No3. I'm doing to opposite to you however and keeping my 100-400 for boat work (off a Rib) for two reasons:

a) The 100-400 is far easier to mange in a boat due to the weight
b) I'd rather have a lighter lens round my neck if I go over!!! :)

It's not that heavy. I'm impressed with the sailing photographers that hold up a 600mm f4 on a 1Ds body all day long.

It is if you're bouncing around on a rib at 25 knots or so!
