Allow me to begin by stating what i am currently using:
Canon 550D
Canon Efs 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS
Canon Ef 17-40mm F4 L USM
Canon Ef 50mm F1.8 II
Since i like to take landscape photos i'm thinking of buying a wide angle lens. The 17-40mm, i feel, just isn't wide enough on an Aps-C camera like mine.
I've more or less narrowed down my choices to either of the above mentioned two and would like everyones opinion on which i should get.
As i understand the Sigma has some Quality Assurance issues and arguably less sharper than the Canon but it is cheaper. So it seems as if the price saving is balanced by these issues.
On the otherhand the Canon is more expensive but i don't have to deal with (esp the QA) the issues.
Any help is much appreciated. Just have to mention that i am willing to trade off the 17-40mm just to save money.
