... Hell.

Not quite - the M25 is merely the outer circle, real hell is inside it!

Nah hell is north of Watford Gap :coat:

And as previously said, assessing what other road users are doing and may do, will mean you leave yourself in a less risky situation or for a shorter period of time. When driving, regardless of a 5 minute journey or for several hours, your awareness should be evolving the whole time, processing your surroundings.

I find it very alarming that not everyone agrees with this statement.
perhaps if you disagree you should stay off the roads for being a danger to other road users and make the roads a safer place.

I don't think anyone disagrees, it's what everyone does. Heck even standing up & walking needs that.

Whether people agree or not, it is still no excuse that they register the potential danger, nor that they can apply the appropriate judgement call to deal with that risk. Hence we encounter accidents, and have a threat like this. Neither the car driver nor the truck driver was successful.

Does anyone else recall the original proposal for two ring motorways around London, an inner and an outer. Just think of the fun that would have given everyone 'today'.

In my more than 40 years of driving the one constant annoyance has been the effects of such lack of awareness of other road users (cars, trucks, pedestrians, etc) - poor lane discipline, discourtesy, non existent use of "mirror, signal, manoeuvre" , no evidence of the ability to read the road ahead and/or around you..........! Oh, let's not forget rubber necking and delays and accidents that adds to the misery of the journey for the rest of the traffic.

Too many drivers of all ages behave so very poorly in regard to the above and think of themselves as invulnerable once they are in their tin boxes.

Nearly forgot - roadworks with average speed cameras......the drivers who seem to have no understanding of this meaning of average! There are newer cameras I read called HADECS, not signed and wonder how many caught by that averaging system?

I'd think the smartphone has caused a lot of deaths worldwide, people can't leave them alone, especially young women addicted to social media, every day, stop at lights, reach for phone, lights change, i'll just finish typing as I'm pulling away

I think after people have passed their test they should be made to watch an hour of russian crash videos before they get their licence

Not the smartphone, stupid people. The same stupid people who would interrupt a conversation with a human being because hey phone rings, beeps, flashes whatever. They have no sense of prioritisation or importance.

There was a news story this past couple of days where a kid was killed when a bus crashed into a supermarket.
The news crews were there just after the event & they were asking one young fella in his 20's? who witnessed the incident, exactly what he'd seen etc

(paraphrasing) " Well I heard a massive bang & looked round to see the bus smashed into the building blah blah...... I decided to put my mobile away to go & help"

What struck me was, not only the way he said it, slightly irked, but that he needed to mention it at all! o_O
