Show us your Gear

some amazing gear here. How much does buster boy have?

wow I don't even want to post mine now  but it'll be a decent pic for my 365 tomorrow! :D

canon bob,do you ever take it ALL out with you?

thats a huge amount of kit, do you actually use it all?

Some bits get used more than others....mainly the macro lenses at the moment. I have taken it all out a couple of times...meeting people who want to try different things...but my cover is restricted to a fixed limit when it's in the car. Usually it's a few macro lenses and a long prime or two.
I'm sure some bits will go when I find the ones that gather dust long term.

Bob

Well my goodness me Ian - haven't YOU got a big one?!!

If we are talking about big ones, do I win?

Well, thought I'd give this a go as well :D

Darryn where did u get that glass cabinet unit from?

Pete

Is this it?

Pete

That's the one!

Cool. What's it like had bearing the weight of the camera gear? Pretty strong?

Pete

Yes it's really heavy duty glass. The flat pack is very heavy, and be warned you'll need two people to assemble it safely - the glass panels are big and heavy.

i like the idea of the glass cabinet, but does it harm your camera/equipment if you leave them in your back/backpack?

Not at all Stan. The main thing with camera gear is to keep it in a heated/ventilated room such as you'd normally live in or spend a fair bit of of time in. Damp, cold, or humid conditions are to be avoided.

The problem is you tend to eventually outgrow the largest bag and you rarely take it all anyway. The nice thing about this cabinet is you can see the gear easily and decide what you want to take with you on any outing.

I wouldn't habitually just drop your gear in the bag on the floor /carpet though. You can get small mites getting into your gear, not that they're any real threat, but when they're wandering about in the viewfinder they can be a bit distracting. :D

cheers CT,I've just got myself a mini trekker AW which,at the moment i can get all my gear in(sony alpha 100 body,3 lens, charger, hoods etc etc),but as i collect/upgrade,i probably will not be able to.this is then kept in the wardrobe away from the grandkids hands/eyes lol.does the cabinet have doors on it,as it will help to keep it(gear) safer from the grandkids?

The glass door has just a magnetic catch so it's probably not ideal in that respect with small kids.

Here's mine:-

Scuse the very dim question, but ... ok, I go out with my bag stuffed full very like this, with the long lens on the camera. Then while I'm are out and about, I change lenses and put a shorter one on the camera ... and the bag is now configured wrong to hold the long lens on its own and the camera with the short lens? How do you resolve that - do you rearrange the velcro compartments, or what? :bonk: :bonk:

If it is anything like me in that situation you go "Oh b****r!" and start shoving lenses in pockets etc :p - I did exactly that when I first got a big bag, sorted it all out nicely, took it out and started to change lens and it ended up all over the shop :p

5 seconds to move the velcro divider shown at the end of the lens. Then just move the other one to trap the charger and loupe together.
Not really a problem. Don't you just love velcro!!

I might as well play

And im replacing the 4gb CF UltraIIs with 8gb ExtremeIIIs... and the 2gb SD UltraIIs with 8gb SDHC ExtremeIIIs...

You can never have too much storage, especially if you enjoy shooting RAW.

Yeah, you're absolutely right. I do like shooting in RAW. Should really have gone for the 4GB cards instead... :bonk:

May well end up buying another 8GB from B&H......

Theres some amazing gear here, I need to buy some more lenses I think!

Me too! I have a very modest collection compared to these guys! Tragically I'm so poor I'm having to save for the nifty fifty! haha

oops just after looking at your kit bag you obviously do not.

Haha im embarrassed to say Im not even sure what a G9 is..:$ :p

Picture courtesy of Nokia N95. Most of my gear. I can't fit the monopod and tripod and other bits and pieces in though. This is the important stuff.
