Show us yer film shots then!

What caused the colour issues, Ken?

This was taken about 40 years ago on a 110 and was scanned last year by my sister.
I've not done anything to it apart from flipping it. I think it was scanned on a standard household flatbed scanner from the 4x5 print.

Definitely a Rocker Brian,, you have it written all over ya :D ....Too close to the speakers at ACDC and Motorhead gigs stuffed your lugs right? ! ! :p

So you got any pics of a leather clad and possibly long "head banging" hair styled "Rocker Bri" from ya younger days?

Not many shots of me on a motorbike Asha as with our lot I was the only one interested in photography, no one had long hair though,...come to think of it we weren't the smartest look bunch around :D but looks like I've got winkle pickers though....that's something.o_O

My friends by\on my motorbike and me:-

Now where's that thread "the way we were" (or similar!)?

I've just acquired a new screen, so need to get used to it for processing, your thoughts on the general look would be much appreciated.
As always C&C always welcome

That car in the first pic.....was it on rocket fuel cos I didn't think they could move so fast back then as to cause motion blur:D

Tbh they're two brill pics ......(y)

No c&c to offer tbh Rob, but i have to say that the capture of the lady "taking it in" is simply superb!

I won't mention the (cough) dust (cough) as we all know you students have little time to PP it out or even dust your scanners / negs :ROFLMAO:

Wonderful, Rob. Tonally, the white/black/slate gray is lovely. The choice to have the lady sharp but the art out of focus concentrates the photograph on the act of looking at art, rather than the art itself, which I think makes it much more interesting. The isolation of the lady, all that way from the wall, in the middle of a bench on her own, sitting upright, gives a suggestion to me that she's been there for a long time, drinking in the scene. (Of course, she might only be sitting there because her feet hurt, although those sandals look pretty sensible).

I almost wish that the second one you took had the art out-of-focus too. The occupied bench and the empty bench - the art viewed and the art unviewed - would make a great thematically contrasting pair.

Thanks the shots were quite sharp because IIRC I'd just bought the Pentax S3 and their lenses are VG and even used by the digi guys today and praised.

Well good people its your weekly chance to help out the colour-blind....

Only in the event of nuclear winter... My good man you need to use the white balance eye dropper on the clouds or snow. I think you need to trust to the automation your brain is just messing with you.

I used the bloody eye dropper and the auto colour correct and to be honest even I could see it was wrong but I don't know in what way. I even reduced the cyan channel....... god I hate colour. :runaway:

You mean you desaturated cyan?

To counter a cyan cast, I think you actually need to introduce red and not reduce cyan. Some photo editors, however, don't have a red option, such as Lightroom, so I think adding both yellow (via the blue/yellow slider) and magenta (via the green/magenta slider) with the colour balance tool will do the trick. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok, I'll give it a go, thanks RJ.

What on, what software are you using?

I'm on PS13 Steve.

I've had a proper look at the neg and I think that one of the problems might be that my chemicals are becoming worn out, could that add a colour cast?

Yeah probably but I wouldn't have though it would be unrecoverable. Maybe the CMS could help, have her sit over your shoulder while you click round with the eye dropper or adjust the wb presets until you get something she reckons is right. You can apply that colour temperature to all the frames taken around that time.

I've got 2 shots left to dev so I'll refresh the soup and see if that helps. Not sure about having the CMS on my shoulder....

You should get them printed and put in a diptych frame, @AdzJackson . They're really nice portraits, but the circumstances in which they've been taken take them to a higher level again, I think.

Ah! Adam in portraits...your girlfriend forgot that the eyes are important that they are sharp.....better not tell her though in case it starts an argument :exit:

Where are you Richard?...I can't see your reflection on the bonnet!
