I like this one as well. I especially like the fact that the girl is not standing on the path, to me this adds to the overall haunting quality of this shot.

:plusone:What he said!

I've been mentally debating whether I think it would be better with the model on the path. I'm not sure, it's a cracking shot either way.

For me the fact that the model is not on the path adds to the sense of loss that I am getting from the picture.

Finally scanned my test rolll through the trip, works fine. More dead C41 stand devd in Rodinal. Kodak gold this time, curled along the length of it making it very hard to scan and keep looking marginally sharp. Is this a factor of the film or the processing?

Its the film, when i tried using Kodak Gold it was curlier than a curly thing with curlers in

They're all sodding awful Woodsy, time to hang your camera up and find a new hobby methinks

:D

I'll do you some serious crit though, because i'm nice like that...

1) The pick of the bunch IMO, tones are perfect and exposure is perfect, my only grip is that i would like to see a bit more of the ledge on the left

2) This one doesn't really tickle my pickle if i'm being honest, nice clouds but the foreground doesn't have enough to keep you interested, also the ridge line is taking you out of frame rather than into the frame

3) Nice but the reeds are neither here nor there for me, as is the little bit of bank to the left of them. The sky is a little featureless but there is nothing you can do about that

4) Like it, nice sky and composition with the yacht in the middle of the reflection shows the scale of the shot nicely. The bit of sea in the front 1/6th of the image is a little odd though.

5) Excellent composition, frosty grass foreground is a cracker (hope you got this on colour) If it wasnt for the cloud i would have been tempted to crop a bit off the top to remove some dead space. However i think a little contrast bump on the cloud would be perfect

Overall a cracking set of shots

Stunny,Woodsy,a perfect reason to shoot film and inspire folk like me to buy a med format type system. I am getting a little fed up with Digitall being so clinical and a little to perfect at times,if you understand what I am trying to say.
The first two and the one of the Tor are stunning.

Those aren't medium format. 4x5 large format (although the smallest LF size!) hence the wonderful image quality. Digital gets nowhere near but then there is a difference in kit size and cost etc.

Wowowowow. Gorgeous shots. And who says black and white isn't for landscapes?

Many thanks peoples! :D

Appreciate Robs comments and agree on all bar 2... in so much as, if one takes a smidge longer to look at the photo, one will notice the rock/lead in line is actually present under the water surface and can be followed back into the frame. I kept the dead space in the water because that rather enhanced the way I was feeling at the time and, for me personally, this shot really exhibits the emotion felt at the time. Took me ages to become happy with this composition.

Chris, I totally agree, and medium format is a great place to start. 35mm is, apart from the media used to capture the image, hardly a step up from your FF digital camera. Granted some medium formats can be bulky, but so worth it imho. I shot 35mm before MF, and MF for a few years before going LF. Not once looked back. LF offers a pace, approach and aesthetic seldom experienced with digital and even MF to an extent.

B&W works so well for landscapes I find. It's obviously has less impact for say, a vivid sunset, but can still work very well I find :) It's all about getting the right film for the right scene and pre-visualised outcome!

Those are all excellent shots Woodsy. I really, really, love the first one, perfect imho.

Cheers Jonathan ,I didnt realise it was large format,so just amazing quality, and a whole another thing to think about.
I did use to shoot plenty of slide and print on 35mm,but never got to med,or large, then went digi, but lately I feel a huge urge to go back to film and enjoy the creativity and results.

As an offshoot of the Agfa Vista challenge I decided to put a roll of the film through a Nikon F5 as a test, only realising after I'd started that I'd set the ISO to 1600. Not a disaster so I thought I'd carry on regardless, it would be a test for both film and camera. The film was dev'd by Jessops in Victoria and they weren't too sure what the settings were to push 200 film to 1600 but I asked them to give a go anyway. The negs came out pretty dark but I scanned them using a Nikon Coolscan 9000 and did a little recovery work in LR2.

Here's the first shots from my Mamiya C330f. Just a few test shots really but so far I'm thinking its looking good.

I still need to learn to use a lightmeter as some of these were under exposed but I quite like it so far.

Andy

I know these are just test shots but I foresee a very happy future for you both just based based on that beautiful out of focus loveliness in between the 2 branches of this tree shot

Thanks Nick, I think we will be very happy together.......

Like the Agfa shots by the way although I hope i never get my Barons Court, sounds painful.

The Agfa, despite my initial views on it's status as a "bargain' is becoming quite a useful and versatile film.

As for the dangers inherent on the Piccadilly line, it can't be avoided Andy, if you manage to dodge getting your Barons Court it's pretty much inevitable that you'll get your Earls entangled a little further down the line

Sounds like the sort of thing that could make your bethnal green or your Cockfosters.

Here's one from a trip to London back in March I knew when i tripped the shutter i would like it but its only now been scanned.
It was shot near the Thames, i didn't notice the e4 logo at capture, i thought it had magically appeared during the dev lol.
Anyway, i love it. Some might hate it but here it is
